This is a great place to watch a movie. it's very easy to reach. You don't have to drive your car to get here. The tram stop is so close, hardly a minute walk. The visual and audio quality is brilliant. Their Screen 1 is excellent. Even the smaller screens are decent.nnI have one recommendation: please keep a staff member at the entrance to check tickets, especially on weekdays and afternoons. So many times I've seen people mostly teenagers get into the theatre and just occupy whichever seats are empty. I know they haven't purchased tickets because afterwards they end up changing seats when those who've actually booked those seats enter.
Beautiful local theatre, with old-world charm. Shows arthouse and mainstream movies, as well as featuring international film festivals. Great snack bar, with all the traditional treats.... choc tops and popcorn. Enjoy a tipple before the show at the bar. Go local and support an independent cinema.
The cinema screen and sound was decent, we saw Madame Web and it was in cinema 5. Good sound and screen quality and the actual cinema foyer and exterior looks gorgeous. The place is let down by how dirty it is, the bathroom was fine but the actual cinema was a pigsty, empty coffee cups at the seats, popcorn all over the ground, empty coke cups everywhere and at the entrance there was a small table overflowing with garbage. I’m not used to this as the Sydney Palace cinemas are spotless, I was only visiting and only went the one time but if it were my local I’d certainly be finding elsewhere to see movies. I don’t want to sit in a seat covered in half eaten popcorn kernels.
Sound is so much better than I remember. Bar is fabulous. Setting is just gorgeous. Staff were super friendly. So nice to be somewhere cosy and elegant. Loved it.
We visit this cinema regularly, it’s our local, and I’ve been coming here for years. Much to recommend it. But two things are really disappointing, first is the hit and miss attitude of the counter staff, they obviously don’t enjoy their work, contemptuous of customers, barely civil, unhelpful and unfriendly! Secondly, the lack of lighting in the cinema at the commencement of a session is down right dangerous especially for older adults who clamber about trying to find their seats in the darkness. If these two things could be rectified I’d give it a 4-5 star rating.
