Do not ever travel Nexus Holidays. I went to the 11 Day Beautiful China Tour. I feel as if the reviews have been somewhat altered to reflect the positive reputation of their company, but after my first experience with following a tour group, I will never go in a tour again. They put you in hotels that are extremely far away; the staff in the hotels are rude and cannot speak English, Nexus charge an extraordinary fee for extra activities that are actually cheaper online and they include ludicrous activities that are part of your itinerary with salespeople shoving products in your face and take money from you. While I enjoyed the group members of my trip and have since become friends, and while Shanghai was literally the best thing about my holiday except for the horrible hotel they put us in, I will never go in a group again and never use Nexus Holidays again. Thank you Nexus for putting me off tour groups as it was an enlightening experience. I have a written a more detailed review on my blog.
Review for Japan tour: Horrible experience, Nexus allowed a random traveler onto our tour as well as delaying the buses up to 2 hours each day. The hotels were in the middle of nowhere, I saw countless homeless people across the street from the hotel. Some days we did not get to the hotel till 9pm. At the end of the tour, nexus gave everyone incorrect transfers to the airport and did not provide transfer refunds to people who decided to stay in Japan longer. I would recommend paying a little extra and NOT going with Nexus Holidays.
I just got back from the China Discovery 11 days tour. Did I have a good time? Maybe. Did I meet nice people? Yes. Were the tour guides good and helpful? Absolutely. Would I do it again? NEVER, and here's why. The tour itinerary was good, for the most part, and we were taken back in time, in many of the beautiful historic places. We were in a group of around 40 people and most of us got along really well, good friends for life. The tour guides Mary and Leo were very helpful and did a wonderful job, and we were very pleased. However, the best bits end there. The food that was served to us, was of poor quality and most of us didn't quite enjoy it I could give them some credit here, given that it was a cheap tour, we weren't expecting fine dining, but some decent food would've been nice. Most of the hotels we stayed in were boiling like a furnace in the heat and humidity, especially due to the fact that the centrally controlled air conditioning was turned off, almost every night, and some parts of the day. I have never in my life experienced this in any hotel, like ever. I couldn't sleep for almost 3 nights. The 5th night was my tipping point, it was 27 degrees outside, at night, and the humidity was close to 82%, the air-conditioning was turned off, and I couldn't get the windows to open, nor did I want any of the pollution to char my lungs even when I slept; so technically it was a pressure cooker that we tried to spend the night in, that is when we decided to split from the tour group and go our own way. P.S. Researching the hotels on your itinerary might not always work out, as they changed one or two of the hotels last minute
Just returned from 8 day tour in China. The first time I've ever done a tour and have travelled alot in the last few years. I must say the experience was a very good experience. From hotels we stayed at which far exceeded my expectations, to service of the tour operators Aimee and Leo and forgot a few others in Shanghai, whom gave an excellent presentation of what China was all about, to the destinations such as the Mask show and cruise in Shanghai, was very memorable Had a couple of flight cancellations, which is not Nexus' fault. But Nexus made sure we were no longer inconvenienced by assisting, especially when language barriers are a huge factor by a non English speaking country. Including a direct flight home from Shanghai which I thoroughly appreciated. Yes, there were plenty of shops we visited, but also educational with pearls, jade, silk, tea and Chinese medicine which was not a surprise and part of the iteniary. But at no point we're we were pressured to buy anything. The people of China are very friendly and helpful which made my experience very positive. Even though mostly everyone is unable to speak English. But you can tell they are doing there best to assist. I really can't think of anything negative of the trip. Thanks again
We have just returned from a 22 day holiday to Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Korea and Taiwan wonderful and highly recommended however Japan was a disaster. Firstly we chose the full day tour of Osaka and also Tokyo. What a rip-off!!!! $250 pp for what??? Taken by public transport, no lunch provided, we were even left for 2.5 hrs for lunch and shopping in Osaka. We didn't pay all that money for that. Tokyo was only marginally better. $1,000 for nothing. The bus driver never had windows cleaned so our photos taken through dirt. We didn't start until 9.30 am so why did the driver fill up with fuel on our time, just after we started our day. We have travelled to over 70 countries and this has never happened before. Made to drag suitcases long distances over rough surfaces because bus not allowed to pull up outside hotel. If this is the case, don't book this hotel Nexus. Again, Korea well organized by guide Mimi and very enjoyable as was Taiwan with terrific guide Ray Li who couldn't have been more considerate if he tried. Loved the country. Give Japan a miss.
Zero Star!!! Highly recommend people stay away from this travel agency!!! This is the first time I went through Nexus Holidays to organise my family trip to Beijing, and this for sure would be our last time to go throguh Nexus Holidays!!!! We joined no shopping Beijing - Chengde- Tianjin 7 days tour 21/3/19 to 27/3/19. However, we were advised on the second day of our trip that the Tianjin schedule has been cancelled, and the reason we were given was because we booked our trip couple of months ago back in October 2018 and the company has just recently altered the schedule for 2019, all new schedule has removed that one day Tianjin trip, we were totally dispoinnted and unsatisfied how we were informed and with such short notice. There were some compuslory program fees we paid in advance in Sydney back in October including China House Museum in Tianjin, Gubei BBQ, and the dinner for our second last day 26/3/19, all above didn't get deliver to us because the tour guide/travel agency have shuffled around our schedules, and we DIDN'T get any refund at all !!! We felt Nexus Holidays is being dishonnest and we are sincerely considering to bring this to fair trading!!! The local tour guide in China is horrible, she always rush us for our usual day schedule, swapping around our schedules to make us feel our day is long and so to encourage us to pay extras in adding extra sight seeing points so that she could get commissions or otherwise, she could finish her day earlier. For this entire trip, I would say the most unpleasent part is to deal with this local tour guide, she even said she knows we will probably visit Beijing once in our life time, so she doesn't cares, even if we are unhappy, unpleasent, there will still be other travellers coming to Beijing regardless which is quite true, however, I totally disagree how she value the customer service, such a shame. We have paid for one of the compulsory program fee for Tricycle Hutong Tour in advance in Sydney, but some how the tour guide still asked us to pay extra tips to the driver. To be honestly, it's not just about the money or tips, it was about the principle and experience. We had a very bad experience with Tricycle Hutong Tour at Shichahai, the driver was rushing all the way through without giving us a proper tour !!! As the tour guide told the driver to rush uo, again, this local tour guide keep pushing and rushing us to finish our regular schedule quickly, so she could either finish her day earlier or encourage us to pay extra to add extra sight seeing points, so she can get commissions. For the entire trip, the only good time we had was at the Chengde, I appreciate the local tour guide at Chengde, she did a very good job and guiding us through the Royal Summer Resort! In conculusion, no further business with Nexus Holidays!!! If you were plan to go through Nexus Holiday to travel to China, I would highly recommed you to stay away from them!!!
Recently we did 13 days tour to China including Travel, the the accommodation is average, and too far from the city center. and too many sales visits, warning be careful at Foot Massage place and do not commit to buy anything from Chinese medicines place, it is rip off. Nexus holiday prices are too expensive when compared to other tours.
Extremely bad experience on one of their tours to Canada and America. Nexus holidays was unhelpful in providing information or help regarding contacting the American company which they used and even went as far as giving me a fake number and email. I had to get a friend who lives in the states to get me the right email to contact that company. Do not recommend going through them for any tours!! The local tour guide they used had a fake name and wanted extra money from tour members to sit at the front of the bus. No explanations or conversation from the tour guide was provided. The entire 8 day tour was filled with a tense and fearful atmosphere from all those who attended that tour.
I hated China cause of Nexus. We were rushed, jammed, pushed, shoved over the 10 day tour. The tour guides were rude, obnoxious and only spoke about things to enhance the options and their tip. $$$$ Half the time we didnt even know where we were exactly. Never got to a hotel till after 9.30pm everynight and up crack of dawn to get breakfast {if you were too late, they wouldnt top up bread, butter, juice or coffee beans}. We even got told if we didnt buy an option, we were to find our own way back to hotel as the bus wasnt a free ride. Be very careful going to a strange country with this mob. If you dont follow their rules once your there, they will leave you behind. Dont give the guides $$$ because they say its cheaper than doing it yourself. They will rip you off blind and leave you on the side of the road in a strange country Terrifying experiences, feeling trapped in a boot camp. Thats the holiday Nexus provides.
