Well gotta say Jack was right. Had a terrific steak cooked perfectly and the beer. What a selection. Staff were great as well was able to sample a beautiful stout and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend. If 6 stars was available I would give them that!
They aren't wrong about being the best little pub in town and most certainly one of my favourites! Nothing i love more than a beer in hand, with a gorgeous roaring fire and the most gorgeous and friendliest service you could ever ask for! Ash and the rest of the team are incredibly amazing and come together like family, it's always very wholesome to see. My favourites include the porterhouse steak and crispy pigs ears. 20/10!
Nice old feel hotel with LIVE MUSIC ON A SATURDAY! Absolutely no seating but damn they pull a nice pint. Complete with fireplace+quirky locals. Didn't see a bottle of Middleton but would recommend.
Friendly staff and great service. This quaint little pub reminds me exactly of some of my local pubs back in Ireland and the UK and the menu made me feel like I was living abroad again enjoying scotch eggs and a steak and Guiness pie that are to die for! Would definitely recommend this pub for a great feed and good selection of booze! Super cozy with a fire place too.
A wonderful experience, the atmosphere of the New Sydney really envelopes you. I had the pleasure of trying a Cornish Pasty, which was a very tasty alternative to the food I would normally aim for. Well done chef! Our other diners thoroughly enjoyed their parmigianas and noted that they do not get salad by default - which is a great way to avoid the food wastage that we so often see elsewhere.
Great 'pub style' meals tonight... delightful Irish 'Galway Girl' Waitress who seemed to have excessive patrons to look after but did it so well! Best thing food was very goodwas quick response to our request to turn the loud music down...well done Lassie, everyone in area really appreciated!! Would recommend for good 'pub' dining experience.
Great little pub. Returning to this old uni hangout was a blast. Pint of Guinness and a Cornish pasty turned out to be vegetarian with spinach, relaxing in the lane listening to tunes and the locals. Nice quiet place for lunch.
Great food, super friendly and helpful staff. We really enjoyed the crispy pig ears and the fried chicken with korma curry sauce. Definitely recommended while you're in Hobart.
Returned to the pub with friends after a long break and it is as good as ever. Fantastic food and the range of beers is epic. The staff are there for you and we could not have been more pleased that we came back! Will be there again soon. Thanks.
I always like to visit here when in Hobart. On a recent trip we had dinner for two of parmigiana and the Guinness pie. Both were enjoyable. Beer was good, although at $33 for 2 schooners, I can't help but think that I was perhaps charged for pints?!?! Surely that's not right?!? Needless to say we only had the one round.
