I’ve been here a couple of time but my most recent visit has left me considerably let down. Maybe there has been a change of ownership? Super bland baguette with kind of slimy chicken, fork with crusted food on it. The place was really messy, chairs stacked in random places , the back staff room door left open, staff pacing in and out of the back room with my baguette in hand, then shortly a sive. Then the bill of $41 seemed really off base for the food and service in offer. There better crepe places out there in Wellington.

This place has great character and the staff are excellent and friendly.  A pleasure to visit and most interesting and enjoyable food. Inside and outside seating. A visit here is like arriving home after a long trip.

If you are looking for a quite place to meet a friend and chat over lunch then The French Larder is recommended. Unlike many of the other cafés in Petone, the background noise is kept to a minimum which means you dont have to shout at each other over a table. 
Regarding their menu, whille a little limited, the dishes are delicious and their macaroons are great. The cafe has recently changed ownership but they have kept the original menu and the quality is still great. Top it off with some friendly staff, this place makes a great escape from a busy day.
