We have ordered two salads and two ice coffees. Restaurant wasn't very busy, maybe two other customers, but it took ages to have our food and drinks served. We have asked for one cesar salad with chicken menu item and one cesar salad with prawns and sauce on the side this wasn't menu item, but our server said it could be prepared. Unfortunately instead of prawn cesar salad, we received another prawn salad from the menu. It seems like staff is not listening to the customers at all, as I could notice similar problems with other customer's order. Despite bad service, food was delicious and we really enjoyed both salads and coffee.
Food was fantastic. Really nice bacon wrapped asparagus and 300gm steak and a huge salad. Frendly and helpful waitress Two drawbacks, only cow or soy milk. Please add almond milk to your menu. Main drawback was one of the staff sitting on a table smoking a cigarette right by the front door. I Just about walked away, come on guys, you should know better than that.
Went here recently for some takeaway food and although they advised they didn't offer any, I suggested they might be able to and asked if the chef could use their coffee cups as an alternative. This is a tricky review. My personal experience was 5/5, I was so impressed by the chefs effort to flex and we managed to enjoy a lovely local movie with yummy food as a result. Looking through the reviews though, I would agree. I think they serve delicious food, have a great selection and fantastic little origami creatures in the walls, however I would possibly look to get staff with more initiative, who love customer service I'm surrounded by them in Sydney. Other folks waited ages to be served when I was there and the waitress staff just seemed to be wanting for time to pass. Maybe good staff are hard to get in the area, I'm not sure. However business seems to be slower here as a result and so I do suggest priority be given to chirpy, happy to help customer service oriented staff.
I love the fact that the ambiance is not pretentious at all and it looks cozy and inviting. It looks like a café, but I’d say the food is high restaurant quality. The lamb was super good and delicious and the sweet potato and pumpkin soup was perfect for the rainy day. I was very very pleasantly surprised. Yummy
The slowest meal I have had at a restaurant in years. Maybe they do things differently over here in Australia, but it took 1 hour and 30 minutes from the time we ordered to just get our food, despite the fact that we were one of three tables with guests in the restaurant. The meal started off inauspiciously as the barista/waitress was busy and the cook took out order. But he was incredibly slow and couldn’t remember more than one dish at a time while he was writing. We were also concerned when he didn’t recognize some of the menu items. The good: the barista was incredibly polite and attentive. I was impressed by the loose leaf tea selection and the service with two pots was nice. Unfortunately the water used in the white tea I ordered was too hot and it was already oversteeped by the time it made it to the table. The second pot where I controlled the steep time was fantastic. The lattes I saw were also quite nice looking. The food portions were also large in general. The bad: aside from the ridiculous wait on food, only the French roasts made positive impressions. The pumpkin soup was bland, the pasta was undercooked which is not the problem I expected after such a wait, and the kangaroo was butchered. We ordered one med rare and one medium, and got one med well and one well, so it was tough and dry. A real shame. The men’s bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Has not been cleaned in a long time, and the floor was slick with grease. I’ve not been anywhere else in Katoomba to compare, but I would certainly not recommend anyone come here for the food. Probably fine for coffee/tea.
I've been a regular at Mountain Ridges for two years, and my last review gave it four stars. But after recent changes in staff, I'm revising it down to two. The food is still good, but the generous serving sizes are becoming noticeably less generous. The staff try hard, but are overworked, especially on weekends. Orders sometimes go missing, or arrive wrong, which didn't happened before. At least the wifi speeds are still great. But it's really disappointing to see a formerly great cafe going downhill.
Staff were great and understanding , the atmosphere is amazing too. But the food , terrible. Ordered a beef straganof with rice and my mum ordered gourmet sausages with pumpkin and potato mash. Despite the fact that my fork would not even dig in the rice, it was that hard and stale, the beef tasted disgusting. Aswell as the mash potato had no flavour and the gourmet sausages were definitely undercooked. recommend this place for coffee but definitely not the food.
"Hot" chocolate was mildly warm at best, the service was okay at best but the real kicker was the food. We ordered 2 chicken snitzels and a chicken Parma, the portions for all three were on the small side, but they were absolutely inedible. I couldn't cut them with a knife or tear them with my teeth. They seemed like they were cooked hours or days before and microwaved for far too long right before serving. They were leathery and impossible to chew. Think of really tough jerky and you would be halfway there. They even stuffed up the premade things like nuggets, chips and wedges. The only good thing we had was the pumpkin soup, but still had issues with that as well. Decor was dated, lighting was poor. Avoid at all cost
Great staff, really nice food. Lovely ambiance with a talented singer and guitar player singing some great songs, yet not too loud. Really nice place, we'll be heading up the mountain again this week to eat at Mountain Ridges. :
Went there for the first time on Xmas Day 2017 for lunch with hubby, brother & nieces. Despite being insanely busy, as it appeared to be the only place open to get a decent meal from aside from the overpriced, book in advance, mostly sold out, establishments such as The Hydro Majestic, Lillianfels, The Carrington, etc. the service was great and the food was to die for! We did have to remind the waiter about our beverage order but considering the vast numbers they were serving this was an understandable oversight. When reminded, they quickly fixed things and apologised profusely. Thanks Mountain Ridges for a wonderful meal and the great atmosphere. I shall definitely be back!
