Please please please take a mechanic with you if you're looking to buy a car from here and keep a record of EVERYTHING. We bought a car from them in January with a courtesy 1 year warranty set up by MBW Cars because we were paying for the car up front and because it was my first car here in Australia, but the car died 3 months later none of the repairs covered by the warranty and we had taken the car back to MBW Cars TWICE to have it looked at and repaired. Of the three months we had the car, we were only able to drive it for half that time - it spent the rest of the time in the garage getting "fixed". We didn't get our full refund back either, because it was minus rego understandable and the courtesy one year warranty - which we never paid for. Don't get ripped off like we did - take a mechanic or don't buy from them at all. Re: the company's response... Just to clarify, we gave a list of repairs within the first two weeks of having purchased the car to MBW Cars following a phone conversation I had with the salesperson we were dealing with, because we noticed a few things wrong with the car having driven it around a bit more. The car got "fixed" with our checklist all checked off but when it was given back to us, the car overheated about two weeks later. By that point, the one month warranty with MBW Cars had expired and upon calling them for advice, we were told to speak to the National Warranty Company as it was in their hands now. We called NWC and they instructed us to get a quote for repairs from our local mechanic. After obtaining the quote and forwarding it to NWC to review, they then replied saying the repairs were not covered under the warranty. We called MBW Cars and they agreed that they were liable for the repairs, so they took the car in with the quote from our mechanic and once again "fixed" the car. It was a few weeks after we got our car back, that it overheated AGAIN and died.
I recently purchased my ba mk2 xr6t from Jesse. Whenever I rang I was always spoken to with respect and didn't feel like I was being pushed off to the side as some car yards have done in the past. They where completly honest even going to the point that if they didn't know something on they car the would tell you they didn't know. Over all was a great experience highly recommend.
I have bought 5 cars from them as I recall, most recently an X-Trail T30, it's been top notch for the price I payed. They really looked after me. Just remember they are a car yard and will sell you anything you like. Don't blame them for selling you something at the end of it's lifespan. Take a mate that knows cars and you will have a heads up on what will go wrong given how that vehicle ages.
We have just bought our second car from Mike Brennan Autos our first didn't miss a beat for 6 years we just needed to purchase a 4 wheel drive. Fantastic, friendly service from the staff Thanks Jesse! so easy to deal with and great prices on cars. After looking around at many other car yards, we just didn't get a good vibe, so we returned here, they had the perfect car and we bought it and we will be sure to return here again when we decide to buy our third! Highly recommend these guys!
Friendly and approachable staff, great prices on the vehicles and a good range of cars. I bought a 2006 Nissan x-trail love the car great price took it to my mechanics and they found a few minor problems. once I raised my concerns with the owner he promptly pointed in the direction of the on site mechanics and the car was repaired under warranty and a magnificent job they did. Would recommended
Salesperson was pushy, but not rude. It was a hot day and they offered my Mum a drink of water, which was nice of them. Cars here seem overpriced and I wouldn't trust their roadworthy certificates, given some of their cheaper cars had obvious faults but had somehow passed an inspection. As with any other second hand car, would recommend you get a second opinion on it mechanically before buying. We went elsewhere because nothing at this place suited our requirements.
I needed to buy a replacement car in a hurry when my last one died on me suddenly, and found my perfect fit here the day I came in. From some of the negative reviews on here, I was a little nervous buying what appeared to be an excellent used car, thinking perhaps it would fall apart a week after driving it off the lot. It’s now 4 months later, and I’m still loving the 2006 Mazda 3 I bought from them $7k plus the third party warranty. Yes, I did have to get some work done under the hood, but you can’t expect a 12-year old vehicle to be pristine, so factor that in when you are budgeting for a used car. I live 2 hours out of Brisbane, so took it to the top mechanic in my town shortly after buying it and got him to do a thorough assessment of any work that needed doing. He said it needed about $1800 of work on it to replace worn parts if I wanted the car to be ‘perfect’, but overall agreed the car was in great shape and this was just routine maintenance. I found the guys here a little rough around the edges, but actually pretty honest and straight forward. I told them what I was looking for, and they pointed me to a handful of cars to consider, and pointed to another lot of theirs which they said to avoid gas-guzzlers, expensive to maintain/replace parts, not reliable, etc. If a car of theirs has caught your eye, but you’re skeptical how everything is under the hood, that’s understandable. But just get an independent mechanic ie. RACQ to come do a check on the vehicle. And hopefully you’re as happy with your ‘new’ car as I am...
Finally an honest car dealership! We travelled from Northern Territory to Brisbane to purchase a car from these guys and could not be happier. Glen and Scott were amazing, honest, straight down the line and could not do enough for us. We will be dealing with these guys again for all our future puchases, the trip was completely worth it. Even on our return to Darwin they had no issues following up and getting a couple of small things repaired for us. We would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a car. And to those people who make comment on the yard, I would be more concerned about those pristine dealerships who promise the world and then turn their back on you as soon as they have your money. These guys are honest and stand behind what they sell....the real deal!
Brought two cars from these guys and always very impressed with the price and service. I had a slight issue with the fan belt on one of the cars 2005 red Yaris after driving 20,000 KM in the car which is common for an older car , and despite this not being covered under warranty, they fixed it free of charge. I like a business that values their customers and Mike Brennan's does just that. Would definitely buy from them again.
AVOID. Sold me an absolute lemon which broke down the next day. Engine and breaks cut out whilst driving and could have killed my family. They refused to refund even though I was entitled under consumer law. The sales man also lied and said there was a PPSR but I wasn’t provided with it, turns out there was an existing, undisclosed security interest on the car. Highly illegal. They are rude, aggressive bullies. I ended up taking them to QCAT to get my refund. It was a long process. If you deal with these guys make sure you know your rights and don’t let them push you around.
