Best coffee in Carlton. A little pricier than your average coffee, but worth getting this high quality once in a while (me being a poor student). The place itself is also great for just grabbing your caffeine dose: the small space and the fact that there is only coffee means people don't linger there for hours. As others have pointed out, the pastries next door are also a great pairing (though pricey as well)

Hate having the need to leave a negative review. Was greeted with an unfriendly smile... seemed a little pretentious unfortunately. Ordered a filter, but considering the coffee was brought to me in under 60 seconds I don't believe it was made fresh. The coffee seemed to be an old shot or something, topped up with hot water as it lacked in flavour... I am usually a massive fan of market lane and have only ever had positive experiences but after this disappointment I wouldn't go back.

One of the most consistently great cafes you can find anywhere, in out outside Australia. Just perfect coffee through the window or have it on a few seats while you munch on great baked goods from next door. Maybe the best corner in Melbourne.
