Came across this place during my Melbourne trip, the food we had here was pretty good and the service was top notch, the pricing is a bit high for me. The lady serving us was so energic and friendly that she reminded me of the Duracell Bunny, she was running back and forth double checking our allergen dietary requirements, we would give this place 5 star service because of her. The Freshly Rolled Rice Paper Rolls was a large roll cut into 5 pieces with dipping sauce, the sauce was nicely made, flavourful but not over powering, we end up using some of the dipping sauce on our salad. The Vermicelli Noodle Salad was made with fresh ingredients, there wasn't a lot of dressing but enough to give it the flavour it needs, although we use the dipping sauce in this salad, it was because the dipping sauce was so tasty and not because there wasn't enough flavour. Given the chance, I will definitely revisit this place again.
Quirky hawker style set up in postal lane. Great atmosphere for eating out. Good service. Ordered share plate for 2 pax. Good food.
Absolutely fantastic dinner! I had been in Sydney before and loved it so I took my friend here on our trip to Melbourne and she said it was the best meal she'd had in a while! The atmosphere is great, lane way feel with lights and shabby chic style.
Food was quality especially the banquet that they provided I definitely would recommend this cool looking restaurant down the alley way
A good spot for a bite to eat. Sitting in the alleyway felt like being in Europe. It was pleasant. The food was tasty, the beer was good. Unenthusiastic staff though. Maybe a bad night or personal problem. But seemed he couldn't be arsed being there.
Always good, fresh food. I highly recomend the noodle salad, but everything I've had here has been delicious. Staff are polite, if a bit undertrained. Sometimes grabbing your own cuttlery and flagging down a staff member three times for a glass of water just has to be done. Food can take a very long time to come out, even when its quiet, so I wouldnt recommend going here if you're in any kind of rush. On the upside, in a very accessibility not-friendly city, Mama's Buoi is easy to get into if you come from the Little Bourke end. Be aware though, the toilets are down several flights of stairs.
There's a reason why mum's food's the best. This is the magic that Mama's Buoi has created. ***AUD$24 pp***
Lovely Vietnamese food with also some very nice cocktails. When compared to similar quality service not expensive.
Food is amazing; very fresh and flavoursome. Service could be a bit better though. The staff can be a bit hands off, and not very attentive during an off peak Monday lunch. The banquet lunch is great, although my personal favourite is the Asian Greens stir fry.
Food: We ended up ordering so many dishes to share as everything sounded amazing. They brought the food out a little at a time, which was perfect and everything was delicious. A particular highlight for me were the duck pancakes, which are possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten. I loved the mix of flavours, texture, everything - just yum! Atmosphere/service: Tucked down a cosy lane way, you could be a million miles from busy Bourke Street around the corner. It's casual but not too casual. Service was excellent, from them moving our table due to the rain, to bringing out our food a few dishes at a time as we were ready for it, and hastily clearing away our finished plates to make room. Would I recommend it: Absolutely. Despite being Vietnamese, the dishes aren't loaded with spice. There's a real mix of flavours available, and the menu offers great choices to suit most tastes.
