Best bakery/lunch bar in Wellington. Fresh cream donuts and steak pies with just steak fat removed. Two vegetarian pie options but they sell out fast. And the best part. Friendly helpful service! Lamingtons were so fresh they were fluffy inside! Just the right amount of fluffiness so they still held together. Wish they did gift cards!
Best ham buns. Bread is soft and generous amoubt of ham in the bun. The cinnamon donut is also the best - real yeasty bread, not cakey. Pies are very good, my favourite is the steak and onion. Sandwiches are not bad, too.
Lucky Bakery is a community icon, and one of Wellington's best kept secrets. It's never been anything fancy, or artisanal, but it does all the kiwi bakery staples and does them really damn well. Their pies in particular are a real standout. Over almost 30 years of patronage I've always found them perfectly moist, great flavour, just the right amount and consistency of gravy, and good chunks of meat in the steak pies. Aside from the classic selection they also have chicken curry and vege curry pies. One of the truest testaments to their quality is that whenever you go in there you'll usually see a young family getting something and a tradie parking outside.
DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS, fresh baked bread every day. Delicious sandwiches and filled rolls and the pies are amazing. Customer service is absolutely lovely and I cannot fault them on anything!
The only thing Lucky about this bakery is that you might find a bug in your loaf, free protein! Below average offerings. I still visit now and then when I can't be bothered to walk farther but then again I guess you make your own luck.
Still unsure whether the bakery itself is lucky or if the customer gains a luck bonus by purchasing there. Either way it is certainly a bakery.
Lots to choose from. Fantastic bread, pies and cakes. Friendly family owned bakery
Love their cream donuts. Was a bit early the other day and they actually made me one while I waited.
Brilliant bakery. Friendly people, clean and hygienic, but most importantly - delicious baked delights.
decent pace for a pie and a sweet wouldnt eat the little pies though as they are a little to expensive and pointless for their size
