13 years since the Lots of Fins Aquarium burnt down, it has now re-opened. Fast becoming Melbournes largest range of community tropical fish, catfish & plants, Marine fish, corals & invertebrates. Fantastic coffee and the best toasties at the Cafe. Erica was amazing at her job very knowledgeable and some great handy tips. It's not local to us but worth the trip. Some amazing fish and turtles too.
The unusual huge number of reviews gave me an impression that this was the largest/best aquarium store in Melbourne. It's a great store, things look pristine and healthy, but fish collection is not as extensive as some other stores. Prices are not the cheapest but not as exorbitant as stated by some other reviews
In the last 9 months I jumped Onto the marine keeping hobby and this was my local store. I continue to visit today, as i am always greeted with wonderful customer service and they have an excellent variety of both fish as well as tank related products. Paul and Caleb always provide me with excellent knowledge on how to take care of my recently set up marine tank and continue to educate me and be incredibly helpful along my reef keeping journey. Highly recommend!!!
First time there was exceptional service but this time not a single person said hi, was there about 20 minutes. Can't really fault them though they were either really short staffed or it was unusually busier for them than usual. I'll still go back :
Firstly customer service is great, they can be very informative. They have a wide range of products and fishes available, prices are semi reasonable, slightly highly then other places, and prices have gone up maybe due to things rising or to cover costs of their expansion of the building. The disappointing experience I had was finding out that when buying a fish and that fish doesn't last a long time, say only a few days, they don't offer a credit of the amount you paid for, so keep that in mind when buying a fish, as they have a decent price tag on them.
Not a bad store but their prices are so much higher than their competitors. I’ve found up to 20% higher. They don’t price match other bricks and mortar stores either. For this reason I will no longer bother with them, there is other great stores out there with reasonable pricing.
Amazing staff, fantastic quality and looking animals and equipment at fair prices Very well cared for. Even saw a fish not for sale as it was a rescue being recovered back into health They have just started to increase their reptile range too, very alert healthy looking guys Not to mention the monster chicken and avo toasting that saved my day at their Cafe. Thanks a bunch guys.
We were looking to purchase a few fish for our tank yesterday, so I approached this rude lady with long-ish blonde hair, who had the facial expression that she couldn't care less. When I asked her if we could get some help, my suspicions were correct as she replied "I'm already helping someone else" finished what she was doing and walked away. We assumed that she would return to help us. We waited around 20 minutes and decided to walk out of the store as we did not receive any help or assistance. As we were walking out, the rude lady from before was with another staff member just casually talking to another customer, whilst they were paying or paid for their items. Very unprofessional and discourteous.
Its a local aquarium store, within minutes from home. It's big enough to house everything you need. And the staff are very friendly and experienced. If there is something they don't know, that's a big if, there is always the Internet. Paul is a great guy who would go an extra mile in helping customers make the right choice. And, now they have an in-house coffee shop. Great! Today, 4th July, I went there and noticed an extension to their original store. They extended the store with next door store, and now they are offering better service and more varieties and stock in both rooms by introducing a wide range of colourful Chiclids and aquatic pets. Soon there will be room for additional pets, Lizards, Snakes, Turtles, etc., upstairs where the temperature is higher than the ground floor because of the roof warmth. Give it a try.
The staff are very friendly. Good variety of fish and live plants. The fish room is quite warm. So go in a tshirt if u take ages to decide.
