FIRST WOMAN CONVERT in Liverpool, UK. DIED AT 35? UNMARKED GRAVE? What really happened? Amazing! Hope the gathering is of peace, hope ans love. Allah make it so, Ameen. . _. _. _. _. _. _. _. _. _. . Can GuideUS.TV broadcast it - LIVE? We'll see- "Stay Guided - GuideUS.app" . _. _. _. _. _. _. _. _. _. . "FATIMA ELIZABETH CATES 1865-1900 [35 Years Old at time of death??] - First woman convert to Islam - in Liverpool, England. Allah have mercy on her. The very first Muslims were converts too. And they had serious struggles to deal with. And the same was true for Muslim converts in Liverpool, England in the early years of their community. Elizabeth Cates, added Fatima to her name, and was also the first mosque treasurer, was at the heart of that struggle. Her family, her mother in particular, reacted in a very hostile way when she converted. She scolded her for reading "the Muhammadan bible". But Fatima persevered, and eventually her husband and her younger sister both converted. When the early converts first used rented premises in an upper room at the Temperance Hall in Mount Vernon Street to gather for prayer, they used to get rubbish thrown at them, when entering and leaving the premises. Here is a prayerful poem that Fatima wrote published in 1892: * A Muslimah's Prayer. * "Beset by numerous foes, Concealed along the way, We must those enemies oppose, And ever work and pray." "They watch but to devour, Like ravening beasts of prey, If we in an unguarded hour, But cease to work and pray." "Then may we ever heed, The warning God has given, That so we may in safety tread The road that leads to Heaven." - FATIMA E. CATES - The final stanza now marks the headstone for her unmarked grave, which was fundraised for and arranged by Amirah Scarisbrick part of this SG. We are looking for a Saturday in January, insha'Allah. We imagine it could be a half-day event. The aims are to 1 educate the convert community about FEC, 2 make prayers for her at her newly installed graveside, 3 bring a wide spectrum of the convert community together at a moment when we commemorate one of the first women to convert to Islam in Britain, and 4 to attract some publicity about the life of FEC in the local press. The Abdullah Quilliam Society has agreed to host the event and to provide some lunch. A preliminary timeline of the day could like this: 11.00 Commemoration Anfield Cemetery with Sheikh Abdul Aziz Fredricks 12.00 Meet and Greet/Lunch 12.30-ish Zuhr Prayers 13.00 Educational Section on FEC - Lecture on life of FEC Maulana Hamid Mahmood - Performance of Quilliam's hymns. Amirah Scarisbrick and choir - 14.30-ish Asr Prayers - Socializing/Networking - Ongoing 20 minute tours of orignal mosque at 8 Brougham Terrace small groups to sign up - concluding duas - 16.30-ish Maghrib Prayers - Depart We are hoping that SG members from each convert association would arrange for transportation to and from Liverpool on the day. - SG members include: *Prof. Ron Geaves AQS Trustee and biographer of Quilliam *Amirah Scarisbrick Fundraiser for FEC's headstone *Maulana Hamid Mahmood Fatima Elizabeth Phrontistery and FEC expert *Batool Al-Toma New Convert Foundation *Sheikh Bilal Brown New Beginnings *Abdur Raheem Green Chairman, iERA *Yusuf Chambers Leicester Retreat *Hajj Amal Douglas Norwich Community, invited *Salih Whelbourne Mu'allif Initiative, *Mumin Khan AQS CEO AbdulWahid *Stephenson Brixton Community, invited Bilal Harrison Leeds New Muslims and Yahya Birt busybody Insha'Allah, convenors of other convert associations can be invited to join at the recommendation of SG members.
Crematorium area peaceful and lovely when out in flower. Niche areas need a tidy now and again Mr Council
I felt like in a park. The gotic funeral monuments are interesting. Many funeral stones on the ground due to their own weight. Beautiful layout. Some structures are in bad shape. Overall, it is ok.
I can't found the words to describe what i saw. Only i can say.. The life is too short enjoy it.
Supportive and understanding staff. People who care a lot for this who they are serving.
Very good cemetery! Although I feel that it might be filling up soon! What will we do then?
