Rookwood Cemetery

Story

Rookwood Cemetery is one of the oldest, largest and most multicultural cemeteries in Australia. It is a place of rememberance and peace, however at the same time it portrays the history and values of our diverse community.

Rookwood General Cemeteries Reserve Trust (RGCRT) was established in 2012 to unite the former Anglican, General, Independent, Jewish and Muslim Trusts that managed Rookwood.

Since the amalgamation RGCRT has transformed into a stronger, more unified organisation. We now cater to over 90 religious and cultural groups and conduct 15 different types of burials. This enables us to meet the needs of the different groups that we work with.

Mission

Rookwood General Cemeteries Reserve Trust (RGCRT) is a community minded, innovative Trust that works in collaboration with all stakeholders to encourage best practice standards within the funeral industry. We manage Rookwood as a sustainable resource and heritage site, whilst conserving history and being proactive in environmental awareness and preservation.
