Lava in Balaclava

Thanks to a previous review, my girlfriend and I tried their pancakes and gnocchi. Both were amazing. If you decide to eat here, please try at least one of the above. You will not regret it.

The food was delicious. Had lentil soup, and the Healthy Salmon. Both were absolutely delicious. Staff was very friendly. I would eat here again.

Whoever makes the pancakes here deserves to be promoted and have huge pay increase. All the food here aside from that is phenomenal, melt in your mouth gnocchi, the pizzas could do with some work. But those panckaes, I would even say they are the best in Melbourne. Nice crunchy edges and perfectly soft inside, with berries and ice cream. I wish I could just live there and eat pancakes all day. My lord their amazing. The coffee aswell; wow. I love this place. It is one of my favorites.

I eat here often and the only thing I was ever disappointed with was the pizza, but it is not a pizza restaurant. It is a great place, open all day, no breaks in the middle, that has THE BEST CHEF ever. Nothing weird or different, just always a delicious meal. We have tried the pastas and the breakfasts with all sorts of eggs - my favourite is the sweet potato scramble on Turkish bread, and it is always predictably fantastic . Seriously, this guy makes the best eggs ! Had the lamb shank, it was tender and juicy and fell off the bone good. The salads are fantastic, ingredients and dressings. The menu is really extensive and covers everything you could possibly want. Had the risotto once - fantastic and filling. For a while, my favourite was the lamb burger with a mushroom sauce and I was staying away from carbs during that period, so I had it on top of coleslaw with no bun and the taste and texture and flavourings were so outstanding I came back for it 3 days in a row ! It is one of the most delicious carb free meals that I would recommend to anyone. The coffee is also good and they have recently introduced Tumeric and Beetroot lattes which really work for my mother who does not drink tea or coffee but can now enjoy an alternate hot drink. They also make fresh smoothies and juices, which I have had when stopping for a quick chat or meeting with friends. It really is an 'always good' place to go. The servers are also wonderful. Young, friendly and Louis is the best barista, but Daniel is mum's favourite. Highly highly recommend. Consistently good.

One of my favorite hangouts in the whole world. Just don't get attached to any particular dish, because they change the menu. The little orange cakes they stopped serving five years ago were glorious. This proved a better place to enjoy a Glicks bagel (with lox) than Glicks.
