As a tourist it was hard to find time to visit this place. Their hours are 12-7 every day - not exactly whisky drinking hours, at least for me. But we made it by and glad we did. Bartenders are well informed about the whisky, I got a full education with the flight I had highly recommend that route. The whisky itself is astonishingly good, as we found over most of Tasmania. Subdued, sophisticated but approachable atmosphere. Be advised, entrance is not on street front. We had to wind our way through an alley and past a delivery truck to find the front door.
After a day walking through Hobart and consuming an early dinner we stopped here. The atmosphere and tasting area set the tone. We sat down and were given a tasting menu. The selection was diverse and the pricing was high. We each made our selections and enjoyed the one to two tastes we got from each glass. Any thoughts of taking on home was dashed when I saw the $200 to $400 price for a bottle of the whiskey I liked the best. Our stay was short, our bill was high but we did enjoy the time we were here.
As an avid whisky enthusiast, I had to visit the Lark Cellar Door in Hobart. I wasn’t disappointed! The place is beautifully appointed which really sets the tone for a quiet dram or a whisky flight. The staff are great and provide a good background into the origins of their whisky- which is very good stuff. Lark have a huge selection to sample or buy but be prepared to dig deep for one of their bottles. Their juice is on the expensive side for Tassie whisky.
It was so awesome we came back a week later to sample the new range. Love the flights, there’s something for every whiskey drinker from $ to $$$$. The young lady, Nikki, was exceptional, knowledgeable, and made the experience memorable. If you’re not a fan of whiskey there is a Hobart brewing co beer and a delicious whiskey liqueur only.
It’s an amazing place to explore the taste of Tasmania whisky. Services were very nice and attentive , they explained to me their range of whisky. You can enjoy your delicious whisky inside or outside appreciating a wonderful view and the great playlist.
We were in Hobart for a day last week , on our way back to the ship we stopped in to the store and tried the whiskey recommended by Adrian who was excellent, very friendly and patient , he picked a lovely whiskey my husband purchased , I am not a whiskey drinker but I thought it tasted like vanilla and Xmas cake, here’s bob with his little trophy. It was a great experience. X
One of the oldest distilleries in TAS, helpful and friend staff taking the effort to explain each individual whisky that we are tasting. Able to go package on the tasting 15ml or customise to our preferred. Bought a bottle of their Xmas bottle.
Nice, quiet and cosy place to enjoy some tasty and unique local whiskies. Service was fantastic too. Easy choice if you are a whisky person and nearby!
Tried a few different whiskeys Dark Lark my favourite, subtle flavours. Next was Glenfaclas..... It's like a punch in the face. don't mouth breath whilst drinking it
Helpful staff to taste a variety of Lark Whiskey’s. Enjoyed the tasting pallet and having a go a guessing the different flavours with their tasting guide.
