Can’t comment on the pool but the gym is pretty poor, particularly if you need to access it outside staffed hours.nnFirst, if you need to use it out of hours, their 24/7 access is frequently broken. I’m talking around once a month, and for up to several days at a time. You’d think if it breaks down so frequently they’d invest in a new system. To make things worse, half the time like today, they don’t even bother posting about the issue on Facebook or other social media so you at least don’t waste your time driving to the gym - you only realise when you actually get there that they’ve put a sign up.nnSecond, much of the equipment is poorly maintained. They had a refresh recently but a lot of the older equipment particularly the weights and weigh machines is rusty, creaky and generally in suboptimal condition.nnThird, the music is played at an excessively high volume - you hear it with your own music on, even with noise cancelling. It’s beyond me why the music needs to be so deafening when almost everyone is wearing headphones and listening to their own audio.nnFourth, they turn the air conditioning off out of hours. In summer the temperatures in the gym are stiflingly hot and humid given the colocation with the pool. It’s very unpleasant - if not hazardous - conditions to work out in.nnSo all in all - if you are near any other gym, I’d recommend you go there and stay away from this one.nnEDIT: I said in my initial review that the gym needs to let people know if 24/7 access isn’t working which happens frequently so that members don’t waste their time coming down. The gym responds to say that they’re committed to improving their communication.nnAnd what do you know - a week after that response, 24/7 access is broken again. Despite their “commitment” to better communication, do they bother posting about it on social media or emailing people who have 24/7 passes as a courtesy? Of course not. They’re more than happy to just let you waste time and petrol to get there and then surprise you with a sign on the door.nnThat about sums up the attitude of the people who run this place - happy to take your money but clearly just do not care about the service they provide.
Very disappointing and extremely unfriendly for young children.nnWe have been coming to this swimming centre for our children’s swimming lessons, and unfortunately, our experience over the past few months has been extremely disappointing.nnThere is only one kids’ pool, yet for the past several months, every Saturday after around 2:30pm, the kids’ pool has been closed due to “pool issue”. What is particularly frustrating is that the front desk continues to charge families admission and allows young children to enter, without clearly informing them that the kids’ pool is unavailable. And why this pool still can use normally every next morning.nnChildren, including very young kids and some under 1 metre tall, are then directed to use a 1-metre-deep pool or a 1.6-metre pool, which is clearly not appropriate for many young children. The 1.6m pool is also being used by adults, including elderly people and people doing rehabilitation.nnWhat concerns me most is the lack of lifeguard supervision in the 1-metre pool. There were three lifeguards in total, but none was stationed beside the 1-metre pool, while two lifeguards were standing at the closed kids’ pool. For a facility allowing young children to use a deeper pool, this raises very serious safety concerns.nnIf “pool issue” is scheduled every Saturday after 2:30pm, why has this been happening for months without any clear notice on the website or other communication to families? Even more frustratingly, the front desk staff were still accepting admission fees and apparently were not aware that the kids’ pool was unavailable.nnAfter I raised these concerns with the centre, they finally arranged for one lifeguard to be stationed at each pool. However, it should not have taken a parent to point out such an obvious safety issue.nnUnfortunately we don’t have much choice but to come because of older child have swimming lesson here and we have to take the young kid come too. However, this is definitely not a facility we would choose otherwise. It feels poorly managed, not transparent, and most importantly, not genuinely child-friendly or suitable for young children.nnI strongly hope management reviews the Saturday afternoon arrangement, admission policy and lifeguard allocation, because the current situation is extremely disappointing.
Please be aware with your direct debit while it comes to knox leisureworks!!!!!!nnExtremely disappointed with the way Knox Leisureworks handles direct debits and customer concerns.nnI would strongly advise anyone considering direct debit payments to keep a very close eye on their bank account.nnThis is not the first time money has been incorrectly taken from my account. On a previous occasion, I was told it was “something in the system.” Despite raising concerns and waiting weeks for answers, I never received a proper explanation of what actually happened or what had been done to prevent it from happening again.nnRecently, I contacted staff to ask about their suspension policy. I was clearly advised that memberships can be suspended for up to six weeks without any fee, and only after that period would a $5 suspension fee apply.nnI then placed my account on suspension for four weeks. However, before that suspension period had even ended, money was deducted from my account. At the time of writing this review, the suspension period has not yet expired, yet funds were still taken.nnWhat concerns me most is the lack of accountability and clear communication. When I contacted staff and management for answers, I repeatedly heard words such as “maybe” and “it might be the system.” That is simply not an acceptable explanation when dealing with customers’ money and direct debit arrangements.nnCustomers deserve clear answers, accurate billing, and staff who can explain exactly why money has been taken from an account. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.nnI am still waiting for a proper explanation and resolution.
Facilities here were decent, small but functional gym area, big lap pools and a great hydro area.nMy concern is regarding the canteen, serving old food no made/ best before dates on anything stored in a fridge showing above safe food temps.nThe chicken salad I purchased was dangerously inedible, waited 10 minutes to return it but there were no staff to be seen.nSadly 4 days have passed and no one has bothered to contact me to discuss my concerns.
Absolutely love the group fitness classes. Just wish there were more body pump, body step and cardio classes. There are too many low impact, low cardio classes like Yoga and mat pilates. Doug is the best instructor at Knox Leisureworks. His classes are well formatted, he's great with his instructions, his music is motivating. Wish he could do another couple of cardio type classes. Wednesday and/or Thursday evenings.
