My absolute favorite place for affordable room essentials! As I just moved to Melbourne, Kmart helped me set up my entire room without breaking the bank. From bedding to kitchenware, everything is stylish yet very cheap. The self-checkout is fast, and the staff are always helpful when you can't find something
Kmart Melbourne CBD is a very convenient place to shop for all kinds of daily needs. The store offers a wide range of products, including clothes, kitchen sets, household utilities, stationery, toys, children’s items, books, school equipment, and many other essentials.nThe store is quite large and appears to have three levels, which makes the product selection very complete. Its CBD location is another advantage, as it is very close to Bourke Street tram stops, making it easy to reach by public transport.nOne thing to note is that it can be quite hard to ask for information, as there are only a few staff members available on the floor. Payment is mainly done through self checkout machines, and they accept card payments only, which is efficient but may take some getting used to for first time visitors.nOverall, Kmart Melbourne CBD is a practical and affordable shopping destination with a wide variety of products, especially suitable for quick and efficient shopping in the city.
TL;DR: Unnecessary sarcasm and poor customer service, zero basic courtesynnWe purchased more than 10 baby clothing items using the self-checkout and unfortunately missed that one item still had a security tag attached. The exit alarm sounded, but security allowed us to leave, so we assumed everything was fine. We only discovered the tag after returning to our hotel and had to make a special trip back to the store.nnWhen we arrived, a female staff member there was one asian lady, one guy, and presumably a local Australian lady. We are referring to the australian/non-asian lady at the returns counter twice remarked that the security tag was “so big” and questioned how we could have missed it. We genuinely didn’t see it, especially after purchasing so many items. We had already been inconvenienced by returning to the store to fix the issue, so the sarcastic comments were unnecessary.nnThe return itself was also handled poorly. We were asked whether we paid by phone or card. My husband answered “card,” which is also the mode of payment that appeared on their self-checkout screen. We added on that we had used Apple Pay, the staff member responded, “Then why did you say card?” in a sarcastic manner. We are travelers here on a holiday and where we come from, “phone payment” can refer to several payment methods including debit and QR, while Apple Pay is simply using a bank card via a phone. It was an easy misunderstanding that could have been handled politely.nnFor context, the store was not busy at the time of exchange. It was Monday afternoon. There was only one other customer waiting and several service counters were open so there was no obvious reason for her impatience. She must not be very fun to be around.nnI’m attaching the receipt from the return where we received store credit, as we unfortunately didn’t get the staff member’s name. Please look into providing training on basic manners for staff.nnTo the lady if you’re reading this - please leave if you’re not happy with your job instead of spreading your misery and resentment to customers.
The dirtiest/messiest kmart I have ever been to. How is someone meant to try on shoes in this obstacle course?nStaff was also very unhelpful, would not help me with products I was after. One staff member said “it will be somewhere downstairs or upstairs”. Very unhelpful, staff don’t know where anything is. Isn’t that meant to be their jobs? To know where stock is.
My fave place to wander round aimlessly looking at all the cool stock. Cheap clean and massive. The tram stops right out the front and myers a hop skip n jump away for a coffee when i leave.
