It seems to be common knowledge that bullying occurs at Kindlehill and not much is done about it. I know of many people who have pulled their children out due to this, and it keeps happening. It happened with our 9 year old regularly and was hard for us to restore her confidence after leaving there. After this happened to us I keep meeting people who had similar circumstances, so it is ongoing. I would not recommend this school, Although I can say that Kirsty the kindergarten teacher is fabulous and worth her weight in gold. Just once kids reach a more sociable age they need to be monitored and disciplined if need be. Kindlehill stated to me they are ‘non-disciplinary’, even when presented with physical bullying complaints!
I went to Kindlehill for 7 years. I wouldn't change the great experiences such as camps and trips, however this school has a very close community and is perfect if you want to conform to their ideology outside and within the school. if not you very quickly feel outcasted but the community. There is blatant favouritism and education and emotional neglect. Some discipline is questionable i.e. strangulation of students and degrading language. There is also the pressure to conform to the style of arts and music blocking out a child’s creativity and personal style. There is also heaps of pressure to achieve high musical and artist standards at such a young age, however academics weren’t credited accordingly. The school expects an unreasonable amount of time and money invested into the school from the families if you don’t meet these expectations then you will be mistreated.
I am passionate about learning and its ability to be at the foundations of change within society. So I hate to see education being delivered so poorly at any school. Unfortunately the level of learning delivered at Kindlehill is mediocre at best. The school is in serious need of a complete overhaul in management, teachers and leadership.
Great people, and the space was fill with a peaceful energy. come try it for your self.
