To be quite frank the waiting time is absolutely ridiculous, went in at 6:30pm hoping I could get my arm stitched up as I had got bitten by a dog. Most definitely wasn’t expecting to be sitting in there until 10:30pm and still not get seen. I do understand the system they have running but would appreciate it if they seen most of the patients that had been there longer than 4 hours.
Thank you so much to Dr David & nurses and receptionist for seeing us this morning. gave me lots of reassurance, and also let me know about 502 Drs as my son's Dr is Newtown, it's hard to get there when your a working solo mum of four. The past two weeks ive been trying to get him into Porirua Dr and there books are close to new patients, Even so he was and existing patient. Kenepuru hospital has always been great at helping me in emergencies & also there specialist there to for eyes, X rays & younger children area & I've experienced maternity care to like 17 / 15 years ago, my dad's also had a knee replacement here. All have been helpful & and experienced team. I had no wait time this morning, it was empty. But there has been times of waiting up to 3 hours during busy hours. However that's normal when your going to and emergency services medical & accident if it's and extreme emergency then people should call an ambulance.Least today was just a case of strep throat. But you never know & it's always good to get checked. I hope kenepuru stays open for many years & service's continue. It would be really difficult for us solo parents to get our children to wellington or lowerhutt hospital in and emergency, or stressful medical issue. And also elderly for that matter. I appreciate all the care & work you guys do. There has been times were I have had to go to wellington hospital or lowerhutt hospital after visiting kenepuru but that's because they are looking in the best interests of the patient and what they need for recovery. I'm only saying this because I've been reading the reviews _ the ones that ant good and saying had to go to wellington in the end. That's because your child or yourself needed to see a specialist for that certain matter. It's not because they don't want to help you. They want the best help for your care. - if you have a broken a bone - usually go to wellington. Burns usually lowerhutt. - there are specialist care and units in different hospitals. Can't expect every hospital to have every facility's.
I went in to see Dr. William Vaatstra tonight after I ripped my helix piercing, and honestly, he was amazing. Super calm, really easy to talk to, and just made the whole thing way less stressful than I expected. He explained everything clearly and handled it all with so much care and skill.nnWhat I appreciated most was how down-to-earth he was. He didn’t rush anything, did everything in his power to make sure I was comfortable, and just had a really genuine way of dealing with people, he is an absolute credit to his profession & made a terrible experience a pleasant one.nnThank you Dr. William Vaatstra, your efforts do not go unnoticed :
Waited to be seen 3 hours for a burn wound that got infected… but a guy that calls himself to be a doctor named David Gold at Ed department refuse prescribe antibiotics. He says on his notes to my house GP that he suggested me applying some ointment to prevent getting worse. This is a lie he never suggested anything to me, he only said it will heal itself. I said to him that I have more medical knowledge than him, and again in his notes to my house GP, he said that I called my self a doctor, it’s honestly a joke. Let all alone, on top of that he touches my wound barehand without gloves and yet calls himself a doctor. Yep that’s how the health system works unfortunately. How can you touch a wound without a glove?! So overall bad experience with a bad doctor and I paid $51 for two minute visit and 3 hours waiting time.. never ever coming back there again and definitely not going to see such an inexperienced doctor!
Great experience here this morning seen by Dr Will Vaatstra we were seen pretty quickly and he was great with my son. The nurse we saw and reception staff were also very helpful and friendly! Would recommend.
