I went to get my new licence plate. Service is wonderful and efficient.. amazing how things have improved over the years.
I took my driving test yesterday afternoon and was nervous mainly because I had been told by multiple people that the assessors were very harsh and rude in Joondalup. In my experience however, it was quite the opposite. I can’t remember the name of my assessor, but she was absolutely terrific. Introduced herself very professionally and joyfully. My nerves quickly faded and I felt very comfortable during my test which I was able to pass. Really pleased and would recommend to other learners to take their test in Joondalup.
Although there is usually a wait things get done in a timely and professional matter. Everyone on here is whining that they failed their driving tests, if your a safe and practical driver you will pass, im sure the assessor’s get frustrated when they have drivers come through who cannot drive. If you can drive, you’ll be fine.
This is an example of everything wrong with the government. May as well tip money into a bin and light it on fire Arrogance, incompetence and power trips
I took my driving test here for manual, been driving for a while with auto license but as soon as I saw the person in charge of my test I new I would fail, something about his attitude. I felt like he was being extra picky because I already have a license, he told me I didn't check blind spots, which I did, then my turns were too wide, apparently I was leaving my hand for too long on the stick, I didn't indicate when turning but it was a bend, go figure... and so many more bad "mistakes". I would LOVE TO SIT WITH ONE OF THIS GUYS WHEN THEY DRIVE AROUND, I'm an old dude, I can't even imagine how young kids would feel with people like this in charge. They need a humility test, because a little bit of power for some people is too much.
The Joondalup Licensing departing has a reputation of bad service, and several years ago it was well justified. However, they do seem to have addressed this. I've been there several times over the last couple of months, and service is greatly improved. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would give it 5 stars, except that you do quite often need to wait a long time for service. So 4 stars this time.
Joondalup Licensing Centre needs more phone attendants. For a small licensing problem I abandoned the first call. On the second try the wait time was a mere forty minutes. What led to the phone calls? A month prior I had queued outside the Licensing Centre for forty minutes in a non shaded area in stifling heat worrying if I'd put enough money in the meter. My simple objective was to replace a badly faded number plate. I happily paid $28.60 and waited for the licence papers to be sent to my house the car was in my wife's name and they wouldn't hand me the new papers. A month later the papers had not arrived in the mail and we wanted to sell the car. When my second phone call was finally answered I was informed they would not send papers if the car was within three months of the re-registration fee. I had purchased the plates more than four months prior to re-registration fee being due. So now we were at a fee of $3.60 to send papers by mail after them not being sent in the first place. I have no problem with the few dollars but my wife had the credit card. To obtain the credit card, make a third phone call and wait another forty minutes or more to pay $3.60, was not something I favored. A supposedly simple transaction had turned into hours of work with the possibility of much further escalation. Fortunately, as I was asking to speak with senior management a decision was made by a supervisor to just send me the licence papers. Done. With the amazing time waste, no wonder the Licensing Centre needs more staff.
Driving test can be cancelled by the Licensing Centre if you have a booking, after booking another test you can expect to wait in limbo and don't get your hopes up as they have a high fail rate you can expect to be paying and seeing them soon for another try.
After being told twice by the staff here that my son was elligible to sit his driving test i took the day off to take him in for his test and was then turned away due to lack of hours in the logbook. 2.8 stars says it all about this circus. Obviously another government department that is not accountable for their poor staff training.
Today I went to my PDA at Joondalup Licencing Centre and passed. Steve is a wonderful assesor. He knew how to make me feel calm and ease my nerves. He treated me with respect. As English is not my first language. When I didn't get his instruction, he repeated again. Then my confidence went up. I greatly appreciated. The staff at The Licensing Centre were friendly as well! If you dont pass the first time, please dont worry. Practice again and do another test. I failed a few times because of my mistakes, but I didnt go to another place.
