Opened in 1988 in Cuba Street and 2007 in Ghuznee Street; Jam has been voted best Wellington Hairdressing Salon!

Story

JAM is created by some of New Zealand’s most celebrated hair stylists.

Jam engages with its clients through artwork, photography, magazines, Havana Coffee, car parking and of course the very best new hair trends.

In partnership with Davines – Italy, Jam offers a colour space collection that actualises the creative vision of the stylist and client, while always maintaining the health of hair. Jam also offers Finest Pigments 98% natural derived ingredients, a gentle colour system without ammonia.

In association with Toni & Guy, Jam offers professional hair care products, Label M, for you to use at home. Organic Moisturizing Lemongrass Shampoo or Peppermint Treatments invigorates both hair and scalps.

Jam also stocks Pureology by L’Oreal, serious colour care shampoo and conditioner that is a 100% vegan formula and ZeroSulfate in the shampoos. Gentle, naturally-based products that deliver superior performance for long lasting hair colour, guaranteed.

I had been box dying my hair black for 5 years and Ben from Jam revived it!! I'd been wanting to do something more colourful for a while but I was scared about bleaching out the black. Ben bleached and coloured it perfectly! It's exactly how I wanted it to look and it's still in great condition!! I couldn't possibly reccomend Jam enough, if I could give them more than 5 stars I would!!

Awesome cut & colour with Ben today. He was super supportive of my decision to change up my usual colour & even offered to make me a custom conditioner, to prolong the life of my colour. The cut as always was outstanding. Would totally recommend.

Decided to switch up my regular hair salon and give JAM a go after reading all the amazing reviews. I wish I had booked in another stylist though because the owner Tony left me in tears 😥 After lecturing me about how only stupid people put bleach in their hair as it breaks off and ends up looking like a ridiculous “hedgehog”, he then proceeded to put bleach in my hair after I explicitly told him I wanted whatever colour he recommends that will not damage my hair. He continued his tirade about idiots asking for bleach literally while he was applying the bleach. It was totally humiliating. After a super rushed shampoo with not a head massage in sight, he was then so rough as he brushed out my wet hair that I was left with scratches on the side of my head and I could see my hair breaking off all through the brush. He completely forgot about the Olaplex treatment I'd requested, and didn’t recommend any products to take care of my new hair. I felt rushed and belittled after the whole thing, and I hope Tony was just having a bad day because no one should pay hundreds of dollars to leave a salon feeling that terrible.

I had a bad experience here recently as after I got my hair coloured it immediately all snapped and frayed at the front (it looks like it was singed). I now have extremely short bits on my temples. Luckily my hair is short, it it were long I would look ridiculous. I went back and was given a treatment. After I got home my bf pointed out that the back of my hair was cut extraordinarily badly, all jagged and slightly 'bowl' like, not the look I was going for. I ended up evening it out myself (awkwardly, using two mirrors) as I just didn't want to have to go back again to get it fixed.
