For the price it’s a decent stay. Recommended if budget is your primary concern, if it’s comfort might be best to look elsewhere. Biggest pro is that it’s close to CBD and right next to South Yarra station. The staff were friendly and happy to answer any and all questions. My biggest gripe was the lack of air conditioning in the rooms which made it very difficult to sleep during the warmer nights. Our room’s window was facing the other half of the building so there was no airflow and it was very stuffy. Provided fan had very little airflow. The shared amenities are okay but you are really at the mercy of the cleanliness of the other people staying at the hotel. Need to grab your own fresh towels every day as the cleaners won’t come into the room throughout the stay. Only before and after your stay. If the above doesn’t bother you then you’ll definitely enjoy your stay.
Staff are friendly and rooms are clean. Mindful of one thing, I asked to be moved as some of the "private" rooms share a door to other rooms which have quite the gap under them and it feels like you're in a room with other guest separated by a saloon style door. The staff were happy to move me however which I appreciated much. ;- Also excellent location.
We'd read a couple of negative reviews though most were positive so had some trepidation about staying here, but it was an excellent stay. The bathrooms, whilst shared, are plentiful and kept incredibly clean, I think they do a round of cleaning every hour or so, so the towels are continually refreshed. We stayed over new years eve and were worried there would be a lot of noise between the rooms but there wasn't at all. One of the fans in the room was very noisy so we couldn't use it, and the other didn't reach the top and bottom bunk so one of us was always too hot. Apart from that, great stay, would recommend. Booked a large number of rooms for a big group to stay here and the management were extremely helpful and flexible. We enjoyed our stay and will be back again I hope! We forgot some items but the hotel was kind enough to hold on to them for us until we could collect them.
Great location, rooms were ok, no elevator and no rooms on the ground floor. My room faces the road and got a lot of traffic noise, and I recommend putting a blanket between the bed springs and the mattress, both for comfort and warmth. My room was nice and had everything I needed, it did have a lot of water damage in the ceiling though.
I have been here for a night. It was expensive and we need it for 2 people. They gave us the bunker bed. When checked it was noisy and I couldn't able to climb up the bed. Unfortunately, we were forced to change the room for which they charged an extra 70$.we stayed there for 9 hours roughly and ended up spending more. Shared bathrooms are available. No lifts to reach the rooms. Doesn't have a proper ventilation system.
DONT GO THERE the rooms suck and all my friends where paranoid just because of the rooms! And not to mention the rock hard mattresses. The hotel generally smelt horrible and one of the rooms smelt like mold! Completely unexpectable!Rooms: 1/5
Prices are okay, close to south yarra station and other restaurants and pubs. No air-conditioning or janitors cleaning your bedrooms during the day.Rooms: 3/5
We came down to stay for the Formula 1 weekend. It was a great budget hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable matress was quite hard with a few loose springs but manageable . Staff were great and very helpful with everything you needed. Shared bathrooms were clean and well maintained. There is also a generous communal area at the bottom which can be used. Great budget accomodation in a central location!
The guesthouse is in a fantastic location, just a minute walk to South Yarra train station and local trams. There‘s always been plenty of availability every time I’ve booked. The historical building is quite charming, with its creaking floorboards and doors. You do get what you pay for in the rooms, with thin mattresses and creaky bed frames, but they still serve its purpose of a place to sleep. Shared toilet and shower rooms at the ends of each corridor. Perfect for backpackers and short stays.
