Attended Half Moon for a function and overall had a pretty good experience. The staff were really serviceable and on top of things throughout the event.nnFood-wise, everything was decent — nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. The chicken they served was a bit on the dry side, but the beef made up for it — great texture and flavour. The focaccia bread came out in a huge serving and paired really nicely with the cultured butter. The marinated pickles were surprisingly good, and the kingfish was fresh and well balanced with the sauce it came in.nnChips and salad were both pretty ordinary, but they did the trick alongside everything else.nnOverall, a solid Brighton pub experience — good atmosphere, friendly service, and enough solid bites to keep everyone happy.
Understandably grand final day the venue is busy, so chips were ok and satisfactory but to me the oil needed changing. Good venue and a great crowd. The drinks ordered on our last round came in divided service by asking kindly to a staff member for our drinks. When the 2 nd part of the order came there was no coke in the spirits and we kindly said that there is no coke and asked for coke please thank you.nWe were approached by the manager who asked us to leave because we had his staff in tears and he has to look after his staff we were asked to leave. In our total amazement we could not understand even the security standing next to us didn’t know what happened and why. As I said we are gentlemen and are not going to argue and will leave. Every year we attend this venue which hurts us all. As for the staff member who was hurt and in tears we apologise for we don’t know but suggest that your emotions may be excessive. Thanks for ruining a tradition and a good environment that’s what hurts. OP a.
I couldn’t think I could love this place more. The half moon is my go to for a drink with the girls or a pub classic I thought it had reached its peak until I won the Thursday night $250 meat raffle. I thought to myself how have I never come on a Thursday night and experienced such a high from this huge win? Buy a drink, get a ticket. Simple. Who wouldn’t want to come to Half Moon?nMarvin the bar manager was exceptionally helpful in my wine choices and his customer service once again I will be back for that, once a week.
Slaw was dry has no dressing and they gave me a side of ketchup with my slaw.. go figure that out. I had to ask for a side of Napoli sauce for the Parma as it was dry and hardly any sauce.
I booked the Central Room for my 60th birthday. All pricing and details were thoroughly explained via several emails through the event manager.nThe night ran smoothly, food was fantastic, Byron our bartender and host was attentive, informative and provided excellent service keeping me informed of all details..nWe played our own music, sat outside on the deck and had a fantastic fun filled evening.. would highly recommend
