Great school. Best Haileybury campus, despite being much smaller. They are academically based and teachers will mostly cater academically, hence the lack of outdoor areas however students do go to Flagstaff Gardens on Monday lunch times for year 5-6 and Wednesday and Thursdays for years 7-8. Senior schools go wherever during lunch. Students will get on buses that go to Haileybury Newlands to do their chosen sport on Tuesdays, however training is limited due to the long bus ride. Saturday sport is normal. Great school overall but I am biased as I go there and enjoy Haileybury. Choose what you desire.
GREAT TO SEE A QUALITY SCHOOL SETTING UP CAMPUS IN THE CITY CENTRE Haileybury is a well regarded school and now has a campus right opposite Flagstaff Gardens in the Melbourne CBD. Welcome news for the many new residents settling in the city centre. The school building is quite large and offers a lot of vertical space for students. Kids studying here will have all the traditional learnings plus a keen sense of inner urban environments - surely a great skillset for modern living!
My son works very well at this school
It's a pretty good school that pushes you hard. This campus is relatively new so it is still trying to establish traditions and a culture. It is a little small but flagstaff garden is like a back yard. Pre-senior and senior students get to go off campus for lunch time, so that they are able to buy more food, they are not limited to small spaces. There is wayyyyyyy to much homework but this is the same across every campus. Probs the least worst campus as there is not too drama. Use Berwick as an example where there is so much drama where girls go home crying everyday. The new floors are really nice as the school poured much of their budget into this, but it is appreciated. There is some missed opportunity as many activities only happen at keysborough and many students only go there once a week as it is too far away.
Haileybury's city campus is an outstanding school with a terrific culture, bringing out the best in our daughter both academically and socially, from ELC to Year 1 so far. I keep telling people that I had no idea a school could be this good. The parent chatter is consistently positive - all astonished at just how much better it is than the schools both public and private they had their children in before. I had wondered if the highrise context would be claustrophobic and noisy as the kids bounced off the walls, but it's exactly the opposite: an amazingly calm, hushed and engaged learning environment, with dedicated teachers always going above and beyond. There is plenty of sport, indoor and outdoor, and the location has transformed our inner city family lifestyle to be all walking everywhere all the time, which has been great for our physical and mental health. Haileybury just won Australian School of the Year in the inaugural national educator awards, as well as Primary School of the Year - Non-Government. From a parent's perspective, we can totally see why.
My kids attend this school and are thriving in the positive and supportive environment. The teachers are excellent and together with the school leadership are creating a happy, safe and encouraging place for students to grow.
No Stars to give this place at all! Went there today at 1:10 pm lunchtime with interstate visitors - very disappointing - should have taken note by the absence of customers. Man serving was not interested in our orders - order two cappuccinos and a latte to have there - given them in take-away cups - when asked which was which - was told they all the same. No sugar offered - found the sugar - no spoons to use - had to use a plastic fork - no napkins - tables outside were dirty and dusty. Disgusting - won't be going back there for sure. BIG FAIL
