An inner city glamping eatery in Fitzroy Melbourne.

Story

Grub Food Van is a 1965 Airstream van (bought on eBay, originally from Iowa) sitting in the front yard of a converted industrial building in Moor St, Fitzroy.

Grub Food Van looks like a giant oversized grub in aluminium casing and – like any good down-to-earth grub – pays homage to the local food chain. Our food menu features produce grown in the green house on site, as well as a selection of the finest local ingredients and foodstuffs.

Grub Food Van provides an alfresco and slightly exotic greenhouse environment to encourage a combination of eating and conversation. Our drinks menu is an eclectic collection of local and interstate beers, ciders and wines, plus great coffee (of course!).

Grub Food Van will remind you of the old days while embracing the new. You may consider us eclectic but we prefer the term, pluralist!

Had breakfast here this past weekend and having visited the place quite a few times before and Grub being one of my favorite places in Melbourne,i was really looking forward to it but the excitement was not to last i am afraid. The food was such a let down, their Bacon and eggs which previously were a staple for me and my friends were just downright embarrassing- deep fried potatoes with a few pieces of deep fried bacon just shows the level of creativity of the so called "new chef" Why mess up something which works so well..and do not get me started on that smash avocado with corn bread and chopped tomatoes! Change is good only if you can improve on what you have. The omelette was the only savior of the day. Hope the place can stick to some of the basics so they don't lose out on much more than they already have

The atmosphere at this cafe is great, the staff are really friendly and everything seems to work like clock work. The coffee is awesome! If you are a vegan, this is not the place for you! Not a very friendly vegan menu. The waiter suggested I order some toast with side and chef will make something nice and I got two pieces of dry toast, 1/4 of avo and half a tomato. I wouldn't even make something this basic and tasteless at home! Not to mention it wasn't cheap! I think if a chef can't make something tasty with no animal products in this day and age, something must be wrong. (Trillions of amazing recipes on google! So many amazing alternative animal-free products on the market). Hopefully this place gets with the times and it will be a great place to come back to!

A Beautiful Place with an even beautiful Garden. Service was friendly and attentive but the food was exactly why it got 2 stars. Most of the things on the menu were not available ( which was surprising as it was early on in the service) and the ones that were, weren't exactly up to the par. Tomatoes on the smash avo were old and tasteless and the only flavour after the bacon and eggs i could remember in my mouth was that of MSG. The croissant was good though.

Very eclectic surroundings. Was a warm day. Cool place to chill. Good menu. Food pretty good but not exceptional. Great wait staff

Really nice setting just off Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. Garden area is perfect for a G&T in the summer. The food menu has modern Australian options including Kangaroo Tartare. Indoor areas easily fill up at the weekend.
