Story

AKARI Japanese Restaurant, established in 1987, is one of Melbourne's oldest Japanese restaurants. It is owned and managed by chef Mitsuru Hoshino.
Akari upholds its value of serving fresh food cooked simply, offering up rustic traditional Japanese food and stylistic dishes, cooked and made to order.
Because of this, please allow enough time for us to fully prepare your dishes.

Food was really very good, price was very reasonable. Staff were very friendly, but not very attentive and got a couple of our orders wrong. all in all the meal was very good, thoroughly recommend the pancakes.

Love this place, great authentic Japanese food. Good variety available on the menus and I have yet to get anything I didn't enjoy. Some of my favorites would be the sake streamed muscles, any of the sushi / sashimi, okonomiyaki, and the mochi dessert is awesome! The food does usually come out at a slow pace so if you are in a hurry keep that in mind.

Rating for this place is way off. Ordered a takeway banquet plus extra nori rolls. Got enough to feed one child. Didnt get any of the nori rolls we ordered. Hardly any sashimi. To cap off wasnt that fresh. Cant comment on food in restaurant but forget takeaway from this place. Remember to check your order before tou leave. Rang to give them feedback but not interested. Wont be back.
