I’m a rather fussy local, and this is by far my favourite and most frequented little nook (for 5 years now!). I love Slowpoke for so so many reasons. The menu is composed of humble, home-cooked dishes that are perennially exactly-what-I-feel-like-eating, yet seasonally sensitive. The owner (who is such a nice guy) is very discerning, and sources the ingredients from painstakingly curated local suppliers who he has long-term relationships with. Everything is so fresh, and most of it is organic. In winter I love to nab the spot at the back of the house, by the fireplace. In spring I enjoy the tiny courtyard. ‘Pot of chai for one’ is something I say regularly. (It is my favourite chai in Melbourne). Slowpoke is the best!
