While perhaps Martha Ray's was a good spot for food at some point in time, it has certainly fallen from the accolades it previously received. After making the effort to venture out to Fitzroy for a lovely Sunday morning breakfast, we were extraordinarily disappointed to waste the time and money at this restaurant. Despite being early in the day and not the least busy, they had somehow run out of Shakshuka, which is certainly the star of the menu. The rest of the menu offers very little in the way of craft, and if I had wanted eggs and bacon I would simply have stayed at home. But, we persisted and ordered The Classic. What we received was horribly substandard "baguette" topped with run of the mill eggs, bacon, and relish. There are so many other places in Melbourne with better coffee and better food, so we do not recommend wasting the time and taste buds at Martha Ray's.

Cute little place in Fitzroy, good service and coffee. But sandwiches on supermarket quality bread is not acceptable!
