Horribly low standards of hygiene. The bathrooms and shared living areas are disgusting and uncleaned. They have ant and roach infestations. The construction noise is unbearable. They have disgusting waste management. Birds tear apart rubbish. Mold in rooms is common.
DO NOT STAY HERE — Unsafe, unsanitary, and the staff gaslight younnThis has been the worst housing experience of my life.nnI was placed in a room with soaked floors from a leak, no AC, and a disgusting, unbearable smell. I couldn’t open the windows, asked staff for help, and was completely ignored. I later found out they lied to my face — promising action they never took. Meanwhile, I was getting sick from the air: nausea, dizziness, constant headaches — classic signs of mold exposure.nnI had to throw away moldy items, clean everything I owned, and even deal with insects in my food yes, my rice was full of bugs — likely mold mites or weevils from the humidity. Some of my belongings were soaked with toilet water. I spent my own money on cleaning supplies and replacements — no apology, no compensation.nnAfter finally being moved, staff came to my door unannounced telling me someone else was moving in. The next day, a manager berated me in person — called me a “RED FLAG,” waved her finger in my face, and tried to claim the old room was fine and I should’ve moved back there, when it was COMPLETELY UNLIVEABLE. When I asked if she’d been in the room herself, she lied and said yes.nnThis place is disorganized, dangerous, and deeply unprofessional. They neglect maintenance, endanger students’ health, and then blame you for surviving it.nnIf you're reading this as a future resident: stay away. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and heard. Here, I was treated like a nuisance for asking not to be poisoned.nnIf any staff is reading this, you should be ashamed of yourselves for the way you treat people. As an international student, I would say this place and the treatment I received is the worst thing I encountered in Australia, and you really should think about how badly you are reflecting on your country.
Moving to the village was my first time living away from home and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to come to. I genuinely believe that if I didn’t move here I wouldn’t have made even a quarter of the friends that I have. It’s such a great environment to be in and I love being able to walk around knowing all of the people around me and being friends with them all. The village has so many great social events as well, whether it’s dinners and parties hosted by the facility, or things planned by us students. It’s also extremely handy living so close to university and just being able to walk to your classes. I love the village and would definitely recommend it, it feels like a permanent summer camp in the best way possible:
I have been at the village for almost 2 years, and I have nothing bad to say about it. I moved here straight out of high school, and I was very nervous about living by myself and working out the stressful university life. But... I have never looked back. Moving to the village has been one of the best decisions of my life, I have made some life-long friends and some of the best memories I will never forget. We are blessed to get free meals multiple times a week and the staff run a lot of different events throughout the trimester which are interactive and fun, giving residents an opportunity to explore GoldCoast's best. I have had no issues with the staff and find them extremely helpful with any problems I have. I personally think the village is the best option for students and highly recommend for anyone and everyone.
This is our five people apartment looks like, but I'm not sure if all the apartment are the same.nI wouldn't say it's really good, buy for me it's still ok.nThe only thing that I couldn't accept is that there is no air-conditioned apartment.nnFor the toilets, it has two in my apartment.nOne is combined with the shower, the other is separation.nnIn your own room you'll get the basic stuff like chair, table, bed without the quilt or pillow, closet, a medium size bucket.nnFor the location which it takes about 10-15 mins walk to the Tram station.
