I always appreciate a good local 'wrecka stow'. If you're talking selection and condition of records, Greville is exceptional. No doubt about it. But on the flip side, it's what a mate once referred to as a 'museum' – the kind of record store where albums are so overpriced they remain on the wall/in the case for ages. It’s this obscene pricing that puts me off Greville whenever I come in for a gander. Their rent is undoubtedly high and it can cost a hefty sum to ship all the way to Australia (much of their stock being OGs and Imports). But more often than not, their sticker price seems nonsensical when you've got Discogs and other record stores gauging the value for those same records. Instead, it feels more like gouging at Grevs. Fine for the hardcore collector whose desires know no financial limitations, but as an enthusiastic record collector I have a hard time figuring out if they’re just clueless or assume their patrons are.
