Story

Gilligan's is the ultimate experience in accommodation and entertainment set in the heart of Cairns. Offering guests 5* backpacker accommodation, nightly entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere whilst soaking up the sun, why choose to stay anywhere else?

All room types are fully equipped with an full en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and four floors of communal areas. Or perhaps try our deluxe dormitories; designed to offer that little bit extra. Available in 4 and 6 bed configurations, these rooms offer TVs, refrigerators and all have a private balcony to kick back and relax after a long day at the reef, rainforest or even a lazy day by our pool.

It doesn't end there...our outdoor lagoon pool is encompassed by a beer deck which during the day offers chilled music, enjoy the atmosphere and maybe even a cold beverage. By sunset this area transforms into a exhilarating night offering a wide range of entertainment evenings from Live entertainment and dj's 7 nights per week, Trivia, Wildlife Show, Beer Pong, Talent Show, Jelly Wrestling, Wet T-Shirt, Pole Dancing and much more as well as on weekends where national and international DJ acts are flown in for that added extra only Gilligan's can provide.

Quite possibly the busiest nightclub in the whole of North Queensland. The vibe here is pumping no matter the day or night. Big shout out to the amazing staff you have been on point every time I have been here. Amazing outdoor seating area and big smoking section. Pool party goes off on Sundays. Great variety of beer on tap and cocktails to chose from and the food is really good. Beware of the long lines on the weekends so get in early!
Payed 24 dollars for a beer. Waiter said the system “accidentally” charged wrongly and would give me my 12 dollars back. Instead charged me again! Didn’t notice until the day after when I’d left the hostel. The band that played outside was good tho, and the overall place made me give one more star. Except for the waiter that overcharged me, TWICE.
Unfortunately very rude and moody bouncers that failed to communicate nicely that national ID’s were not permitted. Even after getting my passport, my entry was denied once again due to the bouncer’s bad mood.
Security Team that doesn’t know what they are doing. They let trouble makers in and deny International ID’s because they can’t read. Gilligans losing revenue and getting more fights. ‍
Sadly let down by the security team, in particular the man doing IDs on the door. Turned away due to not carrying ID. I'm 50! Not used to being asked for that kind of thing! Back to the hotel then return to the night club with ID and do the queue again as not allowed to skip it despite asking! Only to be refused again because I didn't leave the queue quick enough last time!?! And in case you are thinking it I did not cause a scene in any way! I travelled 9,500 miles from the UK to visit my son here in Cairns, I just wanted to have a beer with him and meet his friends! It is harsh to rate an establishment that you have not actually been in but that establishment employs its staff who are part of the experience, and when when they are that ignorant that they will not even look you in the eye and listen to anything you have to say it is a poor reflection on the the place itself! The final courtesy; - when my son came out to explain the situation he was thrown out too! If there was a zero star rating I would give it!
This may be the only club in cairns which attract the crowd, bit over priced and average music. Fully packed on Friday's and Saturday's. Been there on Christmas Eve and new year Eve and weekends - pretty Average !
Nice, very large place. Went on a Thursday night and there were a fair amount of people there. Bar was quite slow, seemed understaffed. Overall, would recommend.
Did my first shoey here. Got the shoe from a random bloke who was keen to share his Converse high top. The high top was the perfect size for a pint of beer- I didn't spill a drop. 5 stars to Gilligans.
Very big nightclub and very good sounds system. A lot of people and promotions drink. Very good location for everything.
Bartender acts like he's working at Hells Kitchen but can't pour a beer
