"The Gawler Ranges National Park is a special place where history, conservation and Aboriginal culture come together. Proclaimed as a national park in 2002, the landscape teems with wildlife and protects rare and threatened plants and animals, including crimson mallee and the yellow-footed rock-wallaby. The park is famous for the magnificent Organ Pipes, formed over 1500 million years ago as a result of volcanic eruptions. You can find equally stunning rocky outcrops at Yandinga Falls and Kolay Mirica Falls."

After rain, the creeks flow and most pools are alive with aquat­ic life. From late win­ter into spring, the park teems with wild­flow­ers in incred­i­ble shapes, sizes and colours.nnIn spring, you can see the bril­liant flow­ers of our local crim­son mallee, and the plains are car­pet­ed with native grass­es and blue­bush. Sum­mer can be very hot, but if you’re pre­pared to work around the weath­er you’ll have calm days, extra­or­di­nary sun­sets, and clear views of the star­ry nights.
How do columns of rock become a whole range of hills? Absolutely amazing landscape. We've been to two lots of basalt column formations Narrabri and Fingal Head but these take it to a whole new level. Great walks to natural and man made features. Excellent example of pioneer property. Well worth a visit.
We spent the whole day driving, hiking, climbing at the Gawler Ranges. Easy enough to navigate your way around. The roads are unpaved but not bad. We weren’t able to go to the Organ pipes as a 4WD was required to take the road there. Saw lots of Emu’s and Kangaroos. Our first stop was Mt Allalone which was a 20 minute climb to the top and well worth it.
Great park. Couldn't get to all places as had a van in tow so best to either book a camp spot or unhook. Worth the visit
It lacks the grandeur of the Flinders Ranges NP but also lacks the crowds. A beautiful park with some delightful camping grounds. Some great 4wd tracks.8
