I regret taking out a 12 month membership at Newtown. The signup manager left in disgust I heard due to poor maintenance and The Air Conditioning has not been working for a few months. No communication has been made to members ever except when you approach customer service staff. This is disrespectful and apathetic. I suggested a cheap chalkboard with updates on what has been going on. I fear that people would ask for compensation if they were honest about what's going on. Every time I talk to someone it is a different story. I would sack the lot of the customer disservice staff except for Neo. How the franchise managers have allowed this to deteriorate is beyond me. There is no recruiting staff during summer, the busiest period as when you go upstairs it is generally too humid and hot. They all know this. Thumbs down to the faulty and rundown equipment, interiors are dirty, change rooms and cleanliness gross, weights are often not put away including some of the trainers who should set the example. A few people seem to think that it’s their god given right to superset during very busy periods. How come they can make this work at other Fitness Firsts but can’t seem to at Newtown? If a staff member was present on the floor checking on things it would most likely make a difference. There are 6000 members here. Unequivocally management do not care. Beware that there are lots of signups during the colder periods but very few when its warm. Extremely poor compared to other Fitness First's. Overdue for an upgrade. Its fortunate that I can train in the city but would prefer local. This is an embarrassment and a joke of a gym.

Place is falling apart. Air conditioning broken upstairs since mid December 17. Change rooms disgusting. Broken locker doors, only one stool in men’s change room, broken one removed and never replaced. I’ve been a Fitness First member for 12 years, had to get a Snap membership to train near home on weekend.

I agree- this gym is convenient and staff are nice but definitely in need of an update. The roofs leaks; in the last downpour the roof opened up over the treadmills and I got soaked- while inside!!! Equipment is constantly broken and about 10 machines have water damage. Plus very cramped next to the equipment I think the space isn’t big enough for the amount of people going at peak times.

Pretty poor facilities. Old and run down. 10yr + exercise machines. Alot of the lockers in the change rooms are broken. Pretty disappointing

The gym is often unclean. The hygiene levels are quite low. There was a recent incident of a member washing his feet in the men's wash basin. That is very unhygienic. Many of the lockers do not work. The equipments break down frequently and it takes a long time to repair them. The staff are very friendly and really good. I must say they are very professional. The good quality of staff makes me keep going back to the club.
