Very friendly and excellent food quality in Chatswood. Definitely the gem in the north shore for Peking duck. The duck was amazing and very juicy, the skin was crispy and the wrapping was hot and fresh. I told the owner the food was really good. Authentic and delicious. It is a little pricy around $90 for the duck. However paying $90 for excellent duck is better than $30 for a bad duck in other suburbs. The roast tofu was really nice as well. The owner was also from Hong Kong and told us he opened this store around 5 years ago. Previous store was in the rocks in the city. Will definitely be back in the future and will bring family friends here. They also have larger tables for larger groups. The wait time for the food may be long so do not expect this to be a quick meal. The owner said they start roasting the duck once the order is taken hence the wait.
Not that great compared to the other restaurants in chatswood cbd. Ordered 4 dishes that came to $100...quite steep. The best thing was the xiao long bao - very juicy and slightly larger than din tai fung. Ordered the wok fried chicken - this grossed me out. The chicken texture was of a steamed white fish. Soft and questionable if the meat was actually cooked... The sauce was great - really garlicky but the meat was a pass! The shanghai style noodles were bland and just tasted oily, a lot of msg, and had a margarine flavour. Horrible... The salt and pepper eggplants were amazing! The garlic and shallot toppings were fantastic with the soft but crispy eggplant! They were understaffed so service was VERY slow - but it seems they were out with a cold. Would I come back? maybe to try the duck but it seems to come shredded rather than sliced and neatly presented. There are better places in chatswood.
It was very difficult to make a booking as online booking was unavailable and the line was also unattended. We ordered Duck Web with Mild Mustard to start off the meal. The size of the deboned duck web was massive, got a great crunchy texture as well, however the dressing was way too mustardy and vinegary. The taste was as strong as wasabi, they really burned my nose. The menu description was so deceiving. Twice Cooked Tea Smoked Duck had a lovely smoky flavour but the meat was a bit dry, like air dried. Portion was good for 4 people. Vegetarian Egg Rolls took 1 hour to arrive. At first we chased up the waiter after waiting for 30min but it still took another 30min to arrive. I was wondering why a simple egg roll dish could take so long and I realised until I saw the next table also received theirs at the same time. The restaurant doesn’t start cooking till they accumulate certain number of order of the same dish. The owner’s face was cold and unfriendly but when he walked to the next table serving patrons he knows, he became a different person.
Friendly service and delicious food. Peking Duck and Chrysanthemum Fish were wonderful. However response to add hot water to the tea pot was slow. Highly recommended.
Both the Peking & Tea smoked duck are excellent! When it’s busy most of the time! you may need to be patient :. This is our one stop duck shop - best in Sydney.
Their tea smoked duck was so tasty, so were the other dishes we ordered. Although service was slow probably due to lack of staff that we waited a while for our food but will go back again for sure.
Peking duck was amazing- crispy skin & flavourful. Also loved the smokiness of the vegetarian duck.
Their foods are quite impressive and tasty. Tried the smoked duck with buns. Will definitely go again to try the peking duck next time. Had a wonderful meal with my family and friends.
Sweet & Sour fish was superb as per usual. Love eating at this place especially their specialty Peking duck, however the pastry was kind of thick and not warm enough when delivered to our table !
Really nice food but super slow. Four people ordering one main each and took well over two hours to get them, one at a time. But the food itself was really nice. Glad it was a lunch as don't drink at lunch. If it had been a dinner can't imagine how many bottles of wine we'd have gone through whilst waiting. I guess they're short staffed like everyone.
