Fairfield Historic Boathouse

Love the look and feel of the place. Food was great too, although a bit pricey. Do note that the place operates with self-service: You order at the counter and you're given a buzzer to pick up your food when it's done. Suggest to sit up top, if you don't want to deal with carrying heavy plates down staircases.

Nice spot to relax, eat and enjoy the view. The vibe here is top notch. I love that they keep the 1925 building operating - so pretty. Food is not the best to be honest. Their scones are not served warm and more like a bready type, not bad tho, I still enjoy them. Generous portions of fresh cream and jam!Food: 4/5

Nice place to enjoy a meal with a view. The outdoor tables offers a nice view of the lake. We came for the scones and vanilla slice. The scones here are more of the 'bread' like type, rather than the'biscuit' type that I'm used to. Fluffy and huge scones here. Generous with the amount of cream and strawberry jam. The vanilla slice was good with its custard like texture. Adequate sweetness. Coffee was nice too. The hot chocolate was thick and enjoyable.

I can't speak highly enough of Fairfield Boathouse. Apart from being full of nostalgic charm with its historical building right on a magnificent Yarra river bend, its scones, jam & cream are to die for! The atmosphere is fabulous and there's plenty of walks to wander along including the pipe walking bridge which crosses the river. I've only tasted the scones but the vanilla slices look out of this world. The rest of the food available - including delicious meals, looks great also. All in all, one of my favourite Melbourne hangouts! Portion size for lunch menu and service were quite poor for the price you’re paying. Apart from that venue has lots of indoor and outdoor seating so no need to make a reservation. Definitely would revisit for the boating, canoe/kayaking experience with such beautiful scenery for a cruise down the river. Dog friendly with bbq amenities as well, perfect for a day out with the family or even your partner.

You have to order within the tea house and then carry the food with you to wherever you would like to sit. I found service a tad unfriendly. There is plenty of seating areas around so reservation is not necessary. If you are into rowing then you can make a day out of it. Devonshire scones were delicious though and the atmosphere was great.

Absolutely exceptional spot for lunch or a day out. Recommend the scones. Lots of outdoor seating and space lots of walks nearby across the river, kayaks and canoes available for hire.

Absolutely one of my favourite spots to visit in winter. So cosy, love the gorgeous river views, the rich hot chocolate and the fluffy yummy scones with cream and jam. I’ve been coming here for years and it’s always the same !

Pleasant Environment close to the city. Food is good but slightly expensive. Self service and lots of space to get a table with beautiful view of Yarra river. Fun to go on .
