Unfortunately, it was too good to be true.nWhat started off as the best fried chicken both my fiancé and I have ever eaten. With the rest of the food tasting equally divine, we were unfortunately let down by the service.nWith our reservation at 6:30pm, and order in by 6:45pm. I unfortunately after an hour and a half 8:10pm decided that it was too late to carry on waiting and went to sort the bill and leave. When I got to the counter I told them in a polite manner that I’d been waiting an hour and a half for the food and that we are just going to leave instead. They said it’s coming now, I said I’ll just get it take away.nThey packed it in a take away bag and I paid for the complete order, I did mention to the reception staff after paying that I was temped to not even pay for that part of the meal, to which they replied I probably good have taken that off the bill. Which I then replied well I guess it’s too late now. And proceeded to leave.nUnfortunately underwhelming.
Came in for lunch on Friday, went to the bar to order before we sat down. Asked for the Tofu Donburi bowl, was told they have no tofu most of their vegetarian options include tofu both the chef and bar staff who both advised us of the lack of tofu could not care less when I said I couldn’t eat anything and my partner said we should go somewhere else. Staff didn’t offer any other options, make any suggestions or even care that they didn’t have the items on their menu available. Very disappointed as it is a lovely spot but this is the second time that we have been that they have had limited options. We ended up going elsewhere.
Always exceptional! The staff, team and food is always an absolute 10/10 here. Christchurch hidden gem, stunning food and a great location. Chill vibes and happy energy! The pork fried rice is amazing, and they have events regularly too!
The Evil Genius Events team are absolute legends!nThey were so lovely and accommodating when I reached out about having our wedding there. Unfortunately, they didn’t have our date available, but I still want to give them a massive thank you. They truly came through for me on one of my worst days—when our original venue canceled. The team was kind, helpful, and supportive, and I’m so grateful for how they stepped in. I 100% recommend them. Even though we didn’t end up booking there, they left such a great impression.
