Don't be fooled by the trendy decor; the service is deplorable. Absolutely the worst place I've experienced for breakfast. Ordered wholemeal toast, was served over-done rye, which was too hard cut with the knife provided. Also ordered a small orange juice, and was served a massive glass of an orange coloured sweet drink that tasted horrible. When I questioned the size, I was told that it was the only size they did. I was the only customer there, but had to wait ages for such a simple request. I had intended to order coffee, but went elsewhere.
"Love the big breakfast and the furniture, like coming back here." - This is what I wrote when the lovely ladies used to run this place, and I gave them my full five stars. There has been a change of management and the breakfast was still good or the same, I just had to wait for it longer and the hash brown was missing and came afterwards. - I saw a member of staff clean toilets without gloves on and then go back into the kitchen. - I haven t been back because the feel and glow has gone out of the place. Both member of staff were trying hard to please, but sometimes actual skill is needed and trying is just not good enough. Maybe things will still fall into place.
Went there for breakfast this morning. Ordered the Electra breakfast and chocolate thick shake. Had my dog with me and sat outside. The waitress brought my dog water which is nice as t was quite warm... I probably would have liked some too, every other table had some. Thickshake was good, great consistency, probably one of the Better thickshakes I've had from a cafe in Albury. My suggestion is that they get the person making the thickshakes to work in the kitchen because whoever made my breakfast could learn a thing or two. 1 bacon was soggy, like it had been sitting in a warmer. 2 poached eggs were over cooked and did not ooze over my toast at all. 3 Mushrooms were bland and tasteless- probably sitting in the same warmer as the bacon. The sign to the waitress that the food was poor was that over half of my breakfast on my plate was completely uneaten. However I was unable to pass on my comments about their lackluster fare as no waitress came to collect the plates or ask how the meal was even 10 minutes after "finishing". When I paid inside, they didn't ask how my meal was either- by then I really couldn't be bothered as they obviously didn't care. Perhaps putting it in writing will have their staff/ management take some notice. Basically the drink was good, the rest was pretty poor. With a wide variety of good breakfast options in Albury now I won't be back.
Had the Chef's Special for brekky. Very disappointing. The bread was cut like a doorstop and was soggy, the poached eggs were overdone and the salmon was very close to use by. Hollandaise sauce was out of a packet, cold and gluggy. Asparagus was cooked well though. Hadn't been there for a while and won't be going back in a hurry. Service was OK.
Food and service was fabulous! The crumbled eggs with Siracha was delicious! Cannot wait to see what other tricks and plans the new owners have up their sleeves for this great venue.
Update fire December 2017 An excellent burger. No flash ingredients but perfectly made. Coffee still nothing to race about and the expresso shake is still pretty good... Upgraded rating from 3 to 4 2014 Ok coffee but nothing exceptional. The express thickshake on the other hand, is excellent.
The best traditional vegetarian breakfast I've had in these parts... There's plenty of non vegetarian options too which my friends said were great too... Lovely staff... Highly recommended...
Wrong thing delivered twice. Coffee tastes bad and food took 45 minutes to come out for 2 basic breakfasts. Staff were very friendly and polite and food tasted good.
The atmosphere was vibrant, staff busy, the breakfast meal was divine...had a chat with the kitchen staff, expressing the delight of the food that was delicious and presented beautifully in such a small space...very, very impressed...have been talking to friends since being there...well done to you all!
Great coffee and delishous breakfast. An interesting menu with plenty to choose from. Very friendly staff and a relaxed environment. Definately recommend.
