Elaia Cafe

About

Elaia Café/Restaurant is open from 7.30am Monday to Saturday for all day breakfast | lunch and then straight through for dinner service. Sunday from 8.00am to 2.00pm.

We serve All Day Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and are Fully Licensed.

Story

Perry and I started Elaia in 1996 as a result of our deli customers wanting good quality coffee and food and somewhere nice to sit. We were the first licensed café to open in the ‘Paris’ end of Charles Street with on street dining and serving All Day Breakfasts.

Now 21 years later, Elaia has proudly evolved into a significant Cafe/Restaurant and has become Launceston's favourite choice for breakfast, lunch, dinner and that something in between.

We are honoured and humbled to be part of the charm that is Charles Street and to have observed its development into a significant eating precinct in Launceston Tasmania.

One of the nice restaurants in Launceston. Food is great and staff are friendly. There is on street parking and sometimes it difficult to find a good spot. This is a busy place. Toilets are at the back of the building and you need keys from restaurant to access them. We ordered Fish & Chips, Pizza, Burger etc. Service is great and delivered on time.
Very nice Greek restaurant. We had a nice lunch sharing everything. It was very tasty. We would go again.Food: 5/5
The Elaia cafe is absolutely worth going to. The service is great. The waitress can remember the order no writing down and it’s always correct. The food is fantastic. Overall a great experience. Never been let down. Vegetarian options: Great
Phenomenal food, the meat platter was excellent and the staff were lovely.Food: 5/5
Was amazing service! My friends birthday and they accommodated every request! Beautiful, lovely staff! Food and coffee was absolutely delicious! The pancakes are to die for! Vegetarian options: Pancakes, omelettes, breakky options
Impressive cafe, great food & some of the best coffee I have had in Launceston. From the moment you walk in the door, you can smell the house roast is of a high standard, and the barista knows how to make a great coffee. The meals are of a very high standard, and they use quality produce, and the prices are very reasonable, my wife also loved the cocktails she indulged in they were made to perfection. Our waitress, Mikayla was amazing, very warm, brilliant with her service & attentive at all times, she made our experience a very memorable one, and we look forward to returning because it is hard to find good people that are so welcoming in many places we have visited in Launceston. It was a shame to witness a table of men, that were treating our waitress so badly, and with so much disrespect, disgusting actually, but to see this young woman handle it with such grace & elegance was also very encouraging at the same time when it’s hard enough to get full time employment today, to come to work each day to face this from customers who should have more wisdom, as well as maturity, towards our youth today, so a very BIG SHOUT OUT to Mikayla. Vegetarian options: Many Vegetarian Options. Kid-friendliness: Very Kid Friendly with a Kid’s Menu. Parking: Parking is difficult as it is on a main road. Dietary restrictions: They have a great menu catering to all dietary options with a well coded menu that clearly defines each menu item.
The team at Elaia were very accommodating and helpful with a large group booking - their menu catered for the team well and everyone had a great time. Thank you for the great communication organising the dinner and looking after the team for their dinner!
Our family of four had dinner here. We ordered the Greek feast for two and were taken for a trip to Greece. The food was delicious and authentic. The saganki cheese wrapped in filo, I think this is what it’s calledwas crisp on the outside with a soft centre drizzled with a hint of honey. Outstanding! Best feast we’ve had. Our teens loved their meals also. Pork souvlaki and Spanakopita. Full of flavour and good size for two good eaters. They did help finish off our feast still. If you like full flavoured fresh well cooked food you’ll love it here. The music added to a great atmosphere. Great service and welcoming staff in all areas.
Friendly staff and very accommodating. Great place to dine with kids as they were very patient and accommodating to them. Beautiful food and great coffee. Very clean restaurant.
Is Elaia under new management? Having been here many times, came in for lunch with visiting guests. What a disappointment. The food was dreadful, overcooked, over seasoned and way overpriced. Service from the waiter was dreadful. Not wanting to embarrass our guests, we left without commenting, but determined not to return.
