I had my first appointment with Dr Swieca yesterday and he was worth the wait. I have moved from interstate and picked him fairly randomly but I'm very glad I ended up here. He asked really good questions and was very interested in all medical, historical and personal aspects of my condition. In addition, I had a really good laugh with him about all sorts of things and I left feeling very positive about my future with my disorder. To address the negative reviews here on Google, I would be extremely surprised if they could be substantiated. I felt immediately that I was in good hands, SO much better than my past specialist. I'm very pleased to have him oversee my treatment.

I accepted an appointment with Dr John Swieca because my regular physician, Dr David Cunnington, was booked out until late March/April. What a great experience. He really knows what he's talking about. I cannot recommend John highly enough.

I have only had an initial consult with Dr Swieca so far, so there are a few other processes I have to go through to be given a plan to resolve my sleep issues. I found his manner very amiable. And the questions asked were important to get a good understanding of my lifestyle & sleep issues I am having. The psychologist, Hayley, that I spoke with at Melbourne Sleep Disorders centre was also very professional & amiable. I am some what surprised by the poor reviews. Though when exhausted from lack of sleep it is easy to feel frustrated if your health care service provider is not giving you the assistance you so desperately need. I hope my experience continues to be a good one, as I am also desperate to have a good nights sleep.

Seems to have very limited capacity to address sleep issues. Prescribes gabapentin and devices for apnea. Talks a great deal in appointments (about personal matters) then simply writes out another script. I would not recommend. There must be someone better in Melbourne.
