Dr Bowler is one of the most knowledgeable respiratory specialists of whom I have ever had the privilege of being a patient. I was diagnosed with late onset, chronic, acute and brittle asthma when I was first met him in the ICU at the Mater Hospital, South Brisbane. I had already suffered 2 cardio respiratory arrests and had been managing my asthma (in another state) for approximately 10 years. It is always refreshing to meet a doctor and even more so, a specialist who actually listens and takes notice of you when you explain that you know your own asthma better than anyone else does. He is always up to date with the newest and best asthma breakthroughs and I credit him with me being alive today to be able to write this review, thanks to his education and patience more than ten years ago. Could not be more grateful to have met this incredibly talented and caring doctor.

Where can I begin? When my husband was first diagnosed with Lung Cancer, we were refered to Dr Simon Bowler. My husband was eager to get a full prognosis and Dr Bowler seemed eager for us to be patient and wait for everything to take its rightful course. The rightful course being that we should wait for his "team" of specialialists to have their meeting to discuss clients. He impatiently (and agressively) told us that my husband likely already had been living with cancer for 6 months and that 2 weeks more of waiting wasn't going to make any difference. Well, 2 weeks later we finally met with Dr Bowler and his team (only one other persona as it turned out) and were informed that the cancer was so far advanced that we would need to start chemo immediately - without chemo we only had a couple of weeks to live. With chemo maybe months. So, as it turns out, that 2 weeks of extra waiting DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! My husband accessed chemo the next day but due to an infection, ended up in hospital and indeed DIED 2 weeks later. Soooooo.... If you are looking for prompt professional service delivered with appropriate levels of compassion, I would suggest Dr Bowler be avoided at all costs. I also was diagnosed with cancer the previous year, and at every stage, the specialists I worked with rushed me into testing, operations, chemo - everything - WITHOUT DELAY. If my specialists couldn't get the care I needed straight away, then they stayed on the phone until I was assured to get it. My husbands prognosis was never going to be good but it may have been the difference between weeks or months - more time is more time. In summary Dr Bowlers had a complete lack of concern over urgency, and complete disregard for my husbands emotional well-being. Dr Bowlers desire to "WAIT" for his stupid group specialists meetings to take place added to the delay in my husbands care. The only reason I have given this one star instead of NONE is because I couldn't post without adding it. ZERO stars would be my choice for Dr Bowler.
