My personal experience getting paperwork apostilled was pretty negative, and I was surprised by how poor the service was for an Australian organisation. My suggestion for DFAT would be that if they are happy to maintain their prices, they should offer a dedicated customer service telephone number that provides more detailed information for applications and assists people more clearly with turnaround times and other information. Sending emails with very generic responses doesn't cut it when time and money is involved. Furthermore, I sent my paperwork well in advance, but was not contacted regarding any problems until two weeks later, while also receiving contradictory emails about the status of my application. This cost me time and money by the time it was finally completed. So, if DFAT is happy to continuing charging people at the current prices, improve the service, otherwise lower the prices drastically to reflect the quality of service. Preferably the first option, as paperwork is an expensive, time-consuming and stressful experience that often involves tight turn around times and negative consequences for the people trying to get it done.
Thank you Ahmed for providing a good experience. Your customer service and explaining process to me was very much appreciated. You showed that you cared about making sure your customer had a good experience and I am grateful.
Bloody awful policies and service. If you apple for a passport online and pay the $309 application fee, turn up twice with original documents but the post office doesn’t want to take passport photos because there’s never ending epic line, and therefore you miss the deadline, there is no way to get that $309 back. Criminal. You have to pay another $309 and just hope your own photos get accepted. There has been no processing done at this point and no genuine reason to charge $309 for zero work. Remember only you have done the work of applying online at this point and turned up at a post office. What an absolute joke. Also, only open to 4:00pm like most lazy government departments. Would never be acceptable in private. Stop taking our deposit and let us pay upon receipt of our passport like most industries.
Penny Wong and Senior DFAT members failing Australians on the world stage. Flagrantly lying about UNWRA throwing taxpayers money to HAMAS. Clean the decks
Waste of my tax $$$. Entered my details exactly as they appeared on each id document for passport renewal. Website wouldn't accept them?? waited on the phone for an hour to speak to the most rude unhelpful disinterested people I've ever come across. Even with a drivers license, TWO old passports and a birth certificate handy they were unable to help.nHow is it so hard to renew a natural born citizen's passport? Unbelievable.
