Darwin FreeSpirit Resort is situated 15 minutes’ drive from the Darwin CBD - it’s an idyllic tropical haven that is a favourite amongst families.
The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, wide range of accommodation, caravan and camping sites, and myriad of facilities, activities and entertainment – makes it the perfect base whilst exploring Darwin!

There is a great range of modern cabins and villas – most with your own patio, air conditioning - which will make your time in Darwin much more comfortable. The powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites offer plenty of shade, and the Premium Powered Sites give you access to a private bathroom shared between 2 – 3 sites.

The resort is centrally located to experience the magic of Darwin and the Top End with its vibrant sunsets, amazing National Parks and a variety of attractions.

Elements Poolside Bar & Bistro is available on site to enjoy an icy cold drink or meal from, all while the kids are entertained by the giant jumping cushion and great range of Kidz Korner activities.

This resort was amazing! The room had everything I needed. The facility was clean and tidy, the pool and gardens were well maintained. The staff in the reception Nat who helped check me in, the bar / bistro staff were great Gina & security / after hours support Mark were fantastic. For example - My elderly friend was locked out of her room and she was helped promptly and offered a glass of water while she waited, which only took 5 mins. I will be back for sure. A very affordable holiday for families.
Our studio queen room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the shower was a good size with good water pressure and shower head. The climate control system kept the room at a pleasant temperature all night, but the walls could not keep the sounds of the partying neighbours out.nWe enjoyed a dip in the nice pool and the meals we chose were very nice. Our room had a small fridge with a small milk there were a few coffee sachets, tea bags, sugar a toaster but no butter or jam mini sachets.nThe city is quite a way of but for me we were close to where we needed to be.
Loved our stay here a few weeks ago. Hannah, Polly and Felicity in reception were amazing, so welcoming and helpful - thanks girls. Francesca in the bar was always happy, friendly and funny. Murray was always helpful and friendly helping us to find our way back to our cabin on a few occasions. Our cabin was beautiful, clean and in a great position. Loved this place and will be back again in the future.
I recently stayed at Free Spirit Resort after winning a family room through a raffle, and unfortunately the entire experience was far below enjoyable.nnDespite organising the booking with the manager on 7th January 2026, I arrived on the day of check‑in to discover that my room had not been booked at all. Luckily for me, they were able to secure a cabin near bushland.nnThen at check‑in, I was told I needed to pay a $100 deposit—something that had never been mentioned beforehand. I explained that I had not budgeted for this and that I was experiencing financial hardship. The receptionist assured me the deposit would be released immediately upon check‑out. It is now Wednesday I checked out on Monday, and after following up, I was told my refund “bounced back” and no one bothered to follow up. Strangely, the same staff member was able to manually process the refund to the exact same card, making their excuse or lie feel even weaker. Regardless of my financial situation, the error should not have occurred and the issue should have been followed up appropriately.nnDuring my stay, it became clear that staff engagement and care were lacking. A loud domestic dispute broke out between two families at the pool, and staff made no effort to intervene or even acknowledge the situation. The food was overpriced and honestly comparable to service‑station quality—if anything, servo food is better.nThe most unsettling moment was being followed back to my cabin by a staff member in a ute, who proceeded to lecture me about my driving speed. Even after I acknowledged and apologised, he continued lecturing me, then sat outside my cabin in his vehicle for several minutes, staring in as if to intimidate me before finally driving off. It was completely inappropriate and made me feel unsafe.nOverall, I cannot recommend Free Spirit Resort. If you happen to win a voucher through a raffle, you’re better off giving it away—or throwing it straight in the bin. My experience was stressful, unprofessional, and absolutely not worth the trouble.
nI recently attended a 3-day conference at Darwin FreeSpirit Resort and was thoroughly impressed! The rooms were immaculate, the linen fresh, and the air-conditioning wonderfully effective — all the modern comforts needed for a relaxing stay.nnThe food and beverage options were outstanding, catering to a wide range of dietary requirements, and everything was plentiful and delicious. Great coffee too The function room was beautifully set up, nice and cool, and equipped with easy-to-use technology.nnThe staff truly made the experience exceptional... friendly, helpful, and always smiling. I honestly couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend this venue for conferences, events, or a relaxing getaway!
