My long running GP was in John Street Kingston practice and I moved from the dad to the son when he retired. Then the son moved to the Collins St Practice, Hobart. I called the practice to discuss my options as to transfer my file, as to stay with my GP and asked for an appointment. At this, we discussed why he moved, his availability, pro and con to move my file as to stay with him. It was not a medical appointment but I stated that I was going to Melbourne for a surgery. No prescription or any medical advice was sought. On the way out he charged me $151.- for a surgery consultation. After that it was clear to me that I was not going to follow him as I feel abused. Doctors don't need you and you are a cash cow to them. So disappointed by my GP.
Been going here for over 10yrs. The three doctors I prefer to see are excellent, thorough, no long waiting times. I have seen other docs here and waited 2 hours once for one who then told me I had ‘run out of time’ when I wanted to ask a further question. But overall excellent practice in general - prefer Collins St as it seems to run on time!
Waiting times are killer an hour waiting is quick, and if you are 5 mins late they charge you a fee and you miss your appointment. Went to the public emergency department at the royal for a similar thing, friendlier staff, quicker turn around, got more time with the doctor who better diagnosed the problem - and free! These guys need to fix there system.
Staff are fantastic and doctors really take the time to go through everything with you. Some doctors run behind frequently, however, if you call up before your appointment the receptionists will let you know how far behind they are running and what time you should come in so your not jay sitting around and waiting. Very friendly!
Waited for an hour on two occasions although the clinic was super quiet.
Absolute rubbish 45 mins later still waiting. Absolutely useless. I turn up on time and expect the same courtesy not almost an hour late
Very professional practice with friendly and caring staff.
They don't bulk bill anymore
