Big 'open feel' store. Parking at rear. Sydney Road entrance down corridor. 11 aisles. Milk at the back! Who woulda thought! LolnLiquorLand nearby.
The staff here are really friendly but we found during our stay that Aussie supermarkets are a bit like the UK before we joined Europe, with limited options and little organic choice. This is no reflection on Coles, but we also notice there's loads of sugar in the food and lots of ultra processed food like uk in 70's/80s - could do with a bit of updating.
Depressing, filthy, unsafe . Random people hanging outside having an argument with the security guard. Random unstable people running around the store. The check out charged me 3 times for an items that was under a promotion. I called the general 0800 number, it was super hard to understand the lack of coherent English and rudeness of the staff . At the end the woman said something around the lines that since it was in the self check out, I was trying to steal the merchandise by stating that the system charged me for an extra item when according to her, that cannot happen. Let's see when I present a claim through the small claims Tribunal. Honestly, is it Coles as a brand or is this random woman that cannot understand how checkouts work here in Australia and how if the promotion is not entered properly, that results on overcharges.
This Coles is in a great location close to Coburg railway station and Route 19 tram on Sydney Road and has great food options. Been there in April 2025 and in my experience, I didn't have any problems in my personal experience. I got snacks and drinks only from that Coles and they taste perfectly fine. The self checkouts work really well and the staff are really friendly. Would highly recommend going to this shopping centre.
My partner and I got served by a young bloke name Aidan, who honestly gave us the biggest smile leaving Coles. We duck in for some quick groceries and Aidan’s bubbly personality and enthusiasm on his last hour of his shift made our day!
