Coles staff in Westend seems to be lazy nowadays. I bought a whole bun of soft drinks. The girl who did the checkout told me to left them in the trolley and scanned one bottle only. Then she only packed other stuff and one bottle of soft drinks in the bag I provided. I have spare bags too but she didn't care to help me pack the rest of the soft drinks into the spare bags.nHow on earth Coles hire their staff at the checkout just to scan and not to help with the packing! That's the point of having a staff there!nI'm really unhappy. This is not the first time some of the staff at Coles Westend did this. So useless! Why are Coles paying you for standing there anyway?!
Everything feels sparkling clean, modern, and well-organised, making for a pleasant and efficient shopping experience that stands out from older supermarkets in the area.nThe layout is intuitive. I've found the fresh produce section to be well-stocked and of high quality. The staff I've encountered have been friendly and attentive, contributing to the overall positive atmosphere.nThe provision of underground, 2-hour free parking is a big bonus for an inner-city area. The parking area itself is bright, secure, and clearly signposted, with easy access directly to the supermarket.
Last week I had a pretty loaded trolley and a couple of big boxes to pack it into. There were no registers opened only small self serves. I asked if they had the longer self serve area as I was happy to do it just couldn’t manage a $250 trolley on a tiny express checkout. She said oh head over that way she will put you through and it was even smaller, like the cigarette counter. . I said oh I won’t fit and she rolled her eyes. So I went back to the express checkout whilst awkwardly lay out tonnes on groceries all over the floor. I did not like that they couldn’t use initiative to help me through a checkout or that they didn’t have even one self serve that’s a bit bigger. For an inner city Coles that was not great and I’ll be going to woolies west end instead
I visited the store on 8/4/26 and was disappointed by how a staff member spoke to my son who simply wanted to quickly grab a chocolate while we were checking out. We were not delaying the store’s closing or trying to re‑enter after hours, yet the response was unnecessarily rude. A little commonsense and courtesy would have made the situation much better
I love doing my grocery shopping at Coles at West End.nThey even welcome my 2 large male dogs who really enjoy the air conditioning on hot summer days.nThe staff are great at turning a blind eye to excited canines which I must admit do occasionally mark their territory in the dried pasta aisle.nnVisiting Coles at West End means my pet dogs no, they're not assistance animals can run free and play with other dogs in a grocery store selling food for human consumption and Health Department laws never apply as they do with Woolworths, Aldi or IGA.nnSometimes when I'm short on funds I walk out with free groceries without so much as a cursory glance from staff.nnI guess they're all dog lovers too!
