Recently renovated and now voted one of the TOP 10 HOSTELS in Australia, the Civic Guest House is a friendly charming hostel in the heart of Townsville offering clean, safe and cosy accommodation for the budget conscious traveller. Free Wi-Fi and a friendly service is what we consider a must. We also offer free transport to/from the Ferry and Greyhound bus terminal 4 times a day (10am, 11am, 2pm and 7pm).

Our aim is to provide our guests with a comfortable and quiet place to stay in a relaxed and friendly environment. You can chill out in the lounge room, prepare a meal in our large communal kitchen, or have a game of chess in the new game room.

Nothing to rave about but this place is fine to stay a night or 2. Not close to ferry or greyhound buses but they run a shuttle. Not many socialising areas which is a downfall - you either have to sit outside  (Not ideal in a tropical area with lots of rain) or in the hot, sweaty kitchen, Or in your room. Kitchen is clean with plenty of utensils. Our private room was reasonably priced although I think may have a problem with bed bugs - I never get bitten but after 2 nights here have woken up covered in little bites that are itching like mad!

Great little place. Would definitely stay again. Clean and airy. Nice and quiet area. Food is just a walk away.

The staff here were amazing! Been to alot of hostels where the staff just point in the general direction on where your room is and don't say where all the facilities are located, here the staff show you around - really appreciated. Not close to the gray hound bus stop but they do a shuttle bus and if not in the times the local bus basically drops you rigjt outside. Beds are really comfortable and everywhere is clean with a nice big kitchen & has an oven! Again most places don't have an oven for some reason! Loved the place!

Good rooms and facilities but we had no climate in our room so it was very hot even with the fan on...
