The Charlotte Museum Trust is a non-profit charitable trust established to preserve lesbian culture.

Mission

The Charlotte Museum Trust is part of a network of archives preserving lesbian culture for the benefit and understanding of future generations. We aim to :
1 Preserve lesbian culture by way of classification and collection of lesbian cultural material with a special emphasis on objects
2 display documented lesbian cultural material in a suitable venue
3 advocate for lesbian culture by networking with other overseas lesbian archives and museums
4 establish the Charlotte Museum in a permanent home with staff and regular opening time

"The Charlotte Museum Te Whare Takatāpui-Wāhine o Aotearoa was established in 2007 to collect, preserve and exhibit the herstory of lesbian sapphic communities and cultural experience.Our collections include contributions from all over Aotearoa, catalogued and displayed at this boutique museum. The collections are diverse and varied and include objects and domestic items, artworks, crafts, digital heritage such as music and film, vintage lesbian and feminist publications, t-shirts, badges, jewellery, Māori taonga such as carving and weaving. We also have a reference library and document archive to support research and study in topics about Rainbow Communities."
