I was back in Auckland for two weeks. So a trip to the Auckland War Memorial Museum was a must. There was Lego exhibit that I attended with my children and it was well worth the entry fee.nWe also went through the museum with the obligatory visit to the volcano eruption exhibit. Top notch.
One of the best museums I've ever been to. A wide variety of exhibits from natural and cultural history to information on the modern day city of Auckland. A surprisingly diverse ancient history section also exists with Old World artefacts. Loved the little golden frog from Panama.
Amazing museum! It has everything from history, prehistoric animals, bugs, movie screenings, war memorabilia etc. My favourite is taking someone new into the volcanic eruption simulation.nnMy advice is not to go during the weekends or school holidays because it gets packed with a lot of people and children.
Always have a great time at the museum. Loads to see. We normally start at the ground floor and work our way up but started at the top this time and saw so much more things. The movies are great to watch and the Lego exhibition is worth it for young and old.
You could really spend a whole day here. We were short on time, so we tried to fit what we could in. It's well worth the cost. We were interested mostly in the Maori cultural elements to the museum. The Marae was impressive, as was the canoe.
