Honestly I didn’t think I’d like it so much. Very interesting museum with a lot to share. Cool technology section. One thing to note is that the aviation part of the museum is 30 min walk away or alternatively you can drive there or there is a museum tram that runs every half hour or so. We got in late. I wish we came earlier for this reason. Still made it to aviation part by driving there. Impressive. Though the price of the ticket seems steep, it’s a very worthy museum. Visit both parts, very interesting place!
The lovely lady who greeted me amazing I wish I could remember her name, she deserves a pay raise Thursday afternoon ? South African so informative and knowledgable and seemed happy to be doing what she was doing, loved the exhibits, tram was great, one star off as there is something not right with the aviation hall. I've seen the museum in Christchurch for the Airforce and the planes just seem less shiney and more real, it just seemed a bit fake. I know that makes no sense what so ever, it was laid out well and the families that were there were enjoying it immensely, I just felt the aviation hall was a let down compared to the rest of the place
The MOTAT Christmas Lights event was truly awesome! The festive environment really made it feel like Christmas. We bought our tickets online—$10 for adults and $5 for children—which was very reasonable for such a fun night. The gates opened at 8 pm, which was a smart move because the event filled up quickly. Parking was quite difficult to find; I finally parked near Auckland Zoo and enjoyed a nice walk both ways to the MOTAT museums. Even then, we ended up queuing for about half an hour to get in.nnThere was so much to enjoy—lots of live music, a silent disco, a Santa’s workshop, a charming model Christmas village, and a low-sensory cottage that offered a peaceful break. Many of the transport sections were open late, and I especially loved the vintage car collection. The train ride was fantastic and a real highlight for us. The heaps of food trucks were a great bonus too. I especially loved the popcorn from Reglan Kettle Korn and the pies from Pioneer Pie.nnOverall, it was a wonderful, festive evening full of magic and fun. Highly recommend it!
Visited the Motat Auckland Museum of Transport and Technology and it was an amazing experience. We had fun throughout our visit. Since we went with small kids, covering everything was a bit challenging, but we’re glad we managed it within a proper time frame.nThe collection inside the museum was truly impressive new, well-maintained, and very interesting. It’s engaging for kids and equally fascinating for adults. There is so much to see and learn that it keeps everyone involved.nThe area where the planes are displayed was also very nice and added a special touch to the whole experience.nOverall, it was a wonderful visit. I would highly recommend Motat to anyone coming to Auckland. It’s a beautiful place, perfect for families, and definitely worth visiting. Loved it!
The aviation Hall and the telecom sector was the most interesting. But for a Museum in Auckland, I would have expected a large collection. But it was a great experience. It keeps the kids interested too . That is a plus for group with kids.
