Captains was fantastic! I rate the service 5/5, the food maybe 4/5. We did not have a booking and they were fully booked but they let us sit outside with a heater and checked on us very often anyway! The mussels were beautiful and I really enjoyed the fish and surf and turf! Very tasty
The rack of lamb was amazing. So tender and filled me up with such joy. The fresh oysters were great as well. So fresh fresh fresh. Supercharger ales were amazing too.
Stopped in for lunch and was very disappointed. The mushroom risotto was inedible but I didn't want to waste my money so I tried to eat it with the garlic bread and felt sick - I barely ate a quarter of my plate. It was mushy and super oily - see picture for reference. The 2 stars is for the big breakfast and chicken burger that was tender and actually edible. While the venue is decent the service was average. They took our orders and served the food after a very long wait but never checked on us again. For the food alone, I do not recommend. Far better options in Queenstown that are worth your money.
The best service in Queenstown, hands down! Thank you to the amazing Junior and Jemma for making it such a wonderful night, and for being super accommodating while most other restaurants in town were fully booked. We ordered Bluff oysters, the crusted lamb and steak for mains - all cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend for those visiting Queenstown.
Firstly I really like the English pub-style feel of this place. I really like the tomato-shaped sauce bottle. I also really like the burgers and while the chicken patty was a touch on the dry side, the flavours were cracking. The beef burger patty was excellent, excellent, excellent. You could taste the memories of the steer/cow/bull/heifer/whatever they get beef from - running through a luscious meadow, filling it's flesh with the flavours of happiness for me to enjoy in it's post-life. Apart from the burgers, the portions are a little on the leaner side. Thankfully with salt&pepper calamari, even a bad one is still pretty good. This one was a little tough and a bit dry which could easily be fixed by a heavier serving of the paprika aioli. Chips were crisp but severely underseasoned - make good use of the salt and pepper shakers provided. The standout oddly was the garden salad which was appropriately dressed and well-balanced. Too often garden salads are dominated by red onion. Greek salads can hold their own on the onion front with bold flavours of feta and olives strong enough to balance out the bite. Garden salads don't have this luxury though, but they nailed it here. Prices are reasonable for a pub feed. We did leave a touch disappointed, but only a touch.
This is our second day in Queenstown , didn't know that it's a public holiday in town, many restaurants were closed . This restaurant is a very popular place here in downtown. The service is really good, staff are friendly and helpful. The food we have ordered are nice and good taste . Steak , lamb and seafood chowder are excellent. A good experience.
Location and service are great - right in main Queenstown centre. Food portions were a bit small given the price but relatively tasty. Ordered the seafood chowder, mussels only had about 9 mussels and one slice of bread and 6 bluff oysters - cost about $85 NZD and came out quickly.
Got the fish of the day elephant fish and it was soooo so good. They also made a great French 75 cocktail as well. Service was excellent, staff was friendly, food was great… highly recommend
The restaurant is located in the main street of Queenstown where is the perfect place for preasure dining as all food and service were impressive. The ribeye steak, clam chowder are highly recommended.Food: 5/5
My wineglas was had some debris on the foot. And another remark, the wine was not poured at table. The food was lacking some taste. I had the lamb rack, which was very tender but did not taste that much. Waiter did offer good service but didn't seem to have the best of days.
