Dark and cozy, truly like a bunker. Love the fireplace, really adds to the vibe. The full rack of lamb is tender and delicious, though very large portion even for 2 people! Perfect with a glass of Merlot. The salmon with prawn salad is super fresh and tasty. Chase looked after us, he was very friendly and attentive! An ideal spot for a romantic date night.
First post covid fine dining experience, so our expectations were high for the 8 course degustation at this highly recommended restaurant in Queenstown. From welcome to farewell, the service was impeccable - friendly, informative, and professional. The space looked like a homely living room, with dark tones, warm lighting, and a roaring open fire. As for the food, well, each course arrived with the waiter's detailed description great theatre!. Duck. Hare. Lamb. Ostrich. Paua. And more. All wonderfully tasty, and perfectly balanced. The wine list was expansive.
Atmosphere was lovely and staff were super inviting, interested and friendly. Food was pretty good, but a little lacking oomph, although the presentation was beautiful. It felt like a place that was very focused on being a fine dining establishment with very little portion sizing, but food that lacked substance. Audibly very quiet inside. Tables also seemed a bit close to each other and I could easily hear other couple’s conversations.
In terms of food, there’s nothing to rave but nothing to complain either; quite average. The only highlight was dessert. Ambience is great really dark inside and quite smoky if you are sitting close to their fireplace.
THE best restaurant in town, second to NONE! We went as a group of 6 last night 14 July 2022 and I cannot encourage people enough to experience this amazing restaurant. The cocktails are impeccable, the staff are incredible and the food is just sublime. The service here is absolutely second to NONE in Queenstown at the moment, and I've eaten at the 6* Carlin Hotel which was also sublime but slips into a close second for me. We went for the A La Carte menu but they also do a degustation and wine match. Please go and EAT HERE!! but book in advance!!
Very cute and romantic restaurant, and the food was excellent. The service was superb with multiple waiters and experts on the food and wine stopping by. We did the 5-course tasting with the wine pairing, and loved everything. However, keep in mind that it was not very much food! You may be hungry after unless you do the 8-course or eat something small beforehand.
Amazing food the pork belly entree, the beef fillet main, the wine list, the fabby oysters all so fantastic!!! The staff are well informed and awesome too,, enough can't be said! The best present ever from my friend who knew I would be there and organized with the manager! Thanks a brilliant night!!

Looking up top restaurants in Queenstown it is no wonder The Bunker is a frequent name. From the decor to the food and especially the service, expect a wonderful dining experience. I had the 8 course and felt it was definitely the right choice. From small bites to mini entrees you will not only savor the taste but be left more than satisfied by the portions.
We had a FANTASTIC TIME at BUNKER! Although we got an email the next day that it was on first table... sadly. We were still overwhelmed with the level of service, presentation, and DELICIOUSNESS! I had a lot of questions to ask considering it was the Trust the Chef Menu which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Usually you go towards your usually foods. This experience, I was able to try paua! ostrich! salmon tartare! tuna! and so many other delicacies I could not even imagine go together to compliment each other. My partner and I enjoyed everything off the menu. Getting meat options for one, and fish options on the other hand. We are very excited to head back and thankful for the server on that evening to be able to explain every little detail of the dish. That was perfection. Really appreciated! APRICOT SORBET FOR THE WIN!
